Hello. There indeed are cute kitties inside, but first I would like you to be kind please and see what I wish to say. I'll be short with you... But I really will!
The shield of Nomad Cities is not infinite. It can be broken through within a reasonable time... but you need about 30 heavy battleships, all firing full batteries of pulse cannons. A standard RHA siege in other words, just different weapons. The story team has told me that if we manage to break through the shield of the Nomad City on Planet Darlington in Newcastle, they will make something fun happen (though they refused to release any details). I would like to know if there's anyone interested to try this. If you don't already have a Bretonian capital ship, the Bretonian Government can fund a number of no armour Invincibles with full pulses.
Before we even start planning this and vote about the funding, we need to know if enough players are interested.
And as promised, here are the kitties. These are some strays that I caught with my phone during my trip to Istanbul last year:
One heavy BS, when dry, does about 72K shield damage per second with full pulses. This means that precisely 15 of them are enough to barely beat the regeneration rate (they will do 1,080,000/s). Did you think I would bother writing this without having done the maths? You don't understand lazy people at all!
PS: The ones with pulses only need to hold the regeneration rate. We can make two more Invincibles with a lot of Ion Cannons that will do the actual denting. Give me a moment to find their stats...
PS2: Just taken a look. One carrier with 8 Ion Cannons would do 18 million energy damage in 45 seconds, which means 400K/s. The City's shield uses the trade lane "shield" type which means it takes energy damage as well as shield damage. However, Ion Cannons are expensive and their number would be limited.
