There's nothing to help with... Or even to do. I saw you coming from Sigmas, all tagged, all unarmored like sitting ducks.
I understand your saltyness, that evil scorn got you all rekt... Don't hate the player, hate the game.
All's fair in love & war isn't it? 60m's a good days work aye.
you've got 3 ships against 1 pirate like you said, take some of the good advice
from the lads here, buy better ships & armor & repay the intent with kindness.
If a pirate is boring and asks for too much without much effort, just legal metagame player list, dock or log off when you see him in the next system next time. Just like pirates use player lists to get you, it's your choice whether you interact with him or not.
You can cry "oh no what horrible thing to say Lemon - avoiding interactions? BAN" but this is exactly what people do. Server pop is really low, systems are big - there's no reason for traders and pirates hating each other.
The Silent thrust traders and 20 million or die pirates is what makes the pirate-trader meta not enjoyable.

If someone pirates them in a cruiser they can buy basic AU and try to split up, but fighting cruiser-spamming pirates who fly the ships precisely for traders to not have a chance on armored transports is always going to be more or less impossible.
The way to counter it which is what the faction in the OP did I think already is to just have a scout snub...but then again, piracy is kinda dead and not very frequent for that to be worth it like has been said.
I find it way easier to just pirate in a way people enjoy so they don't avoid you in the first place, besides some die hard silent+ log off thrust people.
if the pirate decides to demand huge amount of money and wants to destroy the ship.. then it's an easy choice for me. ever- ever- every time there are enough alternatives after my confused laughter is gone. ;P
well, getting a stronger ship makes sense, if you are a trained battle pilot. ok, i'm new and don't know any moves to get away from a pirate, while under fire.. my experience till now is: i dont pay. i get 2-3 hits and i'm dead. .. what changes, with a more armored and maybe ->transporter<-armed vessel is... i don't know. maybe at one point i'm not a trader with a transporter anymore ? maybe i'm having some kind of defensive ship and have a chance to get away and an even bigger pirateship kills me in the same time, like in the beginning of this scenario? (why do i have arms race in mind?) i don't know.
having security is an option, if someone is annoyed about getting killed.
but all that is not the point here. i already had my answer in my own question thread (thanks to all my friendly helpers there)
well, "some guys will, some guys won't .. act comprehensible ;P
( and overall, it was nice run. i saw new things and learned alot )
i already replied to a topiclike this few days ago, so i'm not repeat myself. i'm just gonna add this, if you can fight then so cloak, yep get a cloaking device, even they (pirates) use then. if you fly a 5k get a cloaking device and 500 bateries, 1/2 the capacity, that gives you more than 7 minutes full cloak and you can still have almost 3.5k cargo.
3 times in a run is impressive. Doesn't beat my record of 7, but in current activity scales its pretty good. From my point of view, if your ore run is selling for 50 million, then the max that any one pirate can ask of you is 50 million. If you're buying it from a PoB, take into account those prices, and adjust your run, or buy-point accordingly. Maybe get a friend to mine the ores so that you have total buypoint loss of 0, or invest in defense contracts with bounty hunters and freelancers. Or, my favorite solution, play a Junker and only trade across Bretonia-Rheinland-Omegas-Omicrons so that you have a grand total of 0 enemies.
Pirates demanding more than your total Ore sell price is a rule violation for sure, but there's an even easier answer when that happens: Just don't pay them. The best they can do is kill you, take the ore, and sell it at a fence point for a grand total of way less than they were trying to get from you. Get a miner who'll mine for free, and you only lose time, metaphysically cucking the pirates directly in the ego. The chaddest move.
I'll do something about my superiority complex when I cease to be superior.
"Whatever happened to catchin' a good old-fashioned passionate ass-whoopin and gettin' your shoes, coat, and your hat tooken?"
I dont like the term reasonable, cause it is not very definening at all. For RP-matters it would actually be reasonable to demand all credits and cargo that a trader owns - I mean what cirminal who robs you take a look in your wallet and ask for like 10% of what you have with you, because it is reasonable. But that is not thing, wich is able to work here, because nobdy would ever pay, and therfore piracy wouldnt exist.
For myself I demand max half the profit made by the trader - on indie chars mostly just 5mio and he is good to go.

That just not working long term, I mean who do not rename its pirate char as soon as possible
As the pirate in question here, coming across two unarmoured 5kers and one with an au8 full of Uranium ore is somewhat of a jackpot, easy targets that are hard to pass up.
I did demand 20 million to begin with but it was immediately taken ooRP into PMs, there was little effort to try and haggle me down and even when I did drop the price to 15 million it still wasn’t low enough.
5 million is considered a reasonable demand for an empty 5ker, I fail to see how 15 would be unreasonable for an ore trader.
I did get some rather good RP from passers by after blasting you however, and I was even paid by one of them for the cargo that was dropped, so that’s a bonus.
