Disclaimer, I am (was?) in DTR and have nothing to do with any lore or decisions, but I've seen this brought up before and I am puzzled.
Back when Coalition played on a Freelancer ID, they were loosely aligned with Corsairs and recruited heavily from Corsair ranks and also used Corsair ships some of which they obtained via roleplay with Corsairs. There's the story of the Havana and so on, so there are really quite strong old links between the two factions.
Granted, Coalition joined the Hessian axis (since dev-boosted Hessians became a major power out of nowhere in Disco) and for most of the mod's existence that has been their diplomacy.
Given the history I don't really understand why it's such a faux-pas to explore the possibilities of changed diplomacy, especially when we're talking about a relationship that existed to some extent in the distant past when the Coalition was first formed.

We talk about the faction that possibly damaged the Hispania sleeper ship, but whatever. The Order-DTR love affair is more interesting, but that's only my 2 pennies.

Look, in real life I am from Denmark but lived in England for a while. No-one there held me accountable for my viking ancestors raiding British shores 1,000 years ago.
These 1,000 year animosities that people like to pretend should be a thing in Disco is not only unrealistic, it's downright comedic.
Also, Coalition started out as closely aligned with the Corsairs. If people 15 years ago didn't get their panties in a twist over something that allegedly happened ~830 years ago, I don't see why they should now.

That is also before Corsairs were made responsible for glassing the Coalition Planet when the Phantoms were retconned. And even if it made sense, what the game really doesn't need currently is more hostile factions that group up and become friends.
Had different interactions over the time with your group, but quality noticeable grown in a past month. Great to have active Corsair faction around, good luck with the app.
Well, to be honest, my feelings about DTR are pretty positive for now. Had encounters, good interactions, and while the lore knowledge can be improved, it is still a bunch of dedicated players, not afraid of both RP and PVP, which is commendable. I don't know about all the officialdom being a great burden and duty. In the end, activity is what shapes the server, and players are its blood. When I see an active group of new players trying their best to find a niche for themselves within the community, the least I can do is endorsing their efforts, as I know ther struggle of a "new guy". Trying to fit in here can be tough, really. With that said, best of luck with fighting for the officialdom, keep up the good work and brush up on the rough edges and you will go official in no time.
A new dynamic faction of fresh blood that has the will to learn and earn its place in the world of Disco. I had and still have the opportunity to interact with them both in game and discord and I am impatient to see how it turns out in the future. Good luck and especially, have fun out there.
Met with you guys mutliple times in the last day. It was always enjoyable moment, plus your motivation gave me boost as well. Keep it up the good work.
