Perfect example, the rheinland pirate bomber is listed as a ship I would receive a sanction for flying as a Unioner.
There is no "Rheinland pirate bomber". There is a Red Hessian bomber, but the Unioners aren't even allied with the Hessians.
Quote:I couldnt equip weapons, as Unioners don't make them.
Are you missing the "or civilian" part of that?
Quote:Liberty pirates sticking to liberty ships eh? what about non affiliated pirates? they have no faction so they have no ship.
Are you missing the "or civilian" part of that?
(edit: I'm still not making any further comments on the topic itself, and intentionally avoiding it. I'm simply correcting some omitted/inaccurate information.)
Quote:Despite its bulky design that many pilots dislike, the Waran has become increasingly popular with Red Hessians and other Rheinland pirate groups in the recent years.
so yeah...

Are you missing the fact that I couldnt land on a civillian base to obtain them? And I certainly couldnt kill someone and take them w/o weapons.
So no, I'm not missing the civillian part.
@Hyung: Great post. Just pointing out why we need lists of what is acceptable and what is not. If you dont say I cant have a tizona del cid then I can deal with that, but what I cant deal with is when you dont say I cant have one, I get one, then someone cries OORP.
I have one of the cappiest fighters in the game because its green on my allowable ships list. If it weren't for that, I can gaurentee someone would cry OORP for me flying it.

I'm not trying to, I am telling you that server rules make those oorp choices illegal, and that was true even for people who made them with admin approval.
No where in the rules does it say the rules are negated by an admins allowance.
Now, we all know the rules are simply an inconvenience for some of the admins and some of their buddies, but now the admins have grouped together and said that is no longer the case, that now the rules do matter, that now they are putting honor back into their roles.
And you're trying your best to convince them to throw honor and fairness back out the window.

I dont really know why your saying all those two posts at me then, because I've provided a list thingy in that post.
Its in the ship part, but there's also a list in the wep section, but you need to pretend that its there. Nothing is set in stone yet.
This was just a suggestion on what we could do to appease the
general populace AND allow for creative RP possibilities,
while being fair to as many people as possible.

Yes, if the admins want this outlaw to stand, they will lose a lot as well.
I am being a bit selfish, but I am doing so with 90% of the community as well. I don't think asking for extra RP facilities in an RP server is all that selfish though.
Meh, my opinions. These points have already been stated and disputed and backed up and disputed over and over. I'm getting tired of this topic, the points from every standpoint have been stated. We're rolling back into the same debates. I suggest we wait, it's not up to us exclusively in the end anyways, further debate is useless at this point IMO...
A little off topic but... Before the Admins start sanctioning People for ooRP docking (Tenabras) maybe they should start looking at the hundreds (yes I mean Hundreds) of traders that still have a Navy or Police tag. They don't get sanctioned or warned in any way so why should anybody else be sanctioned for ooRP docking. That Navy Trader is gonna get burned if he tries to dock at Crete next time. "Drop the cargo and turn around."
A tag must match the i.d. as close as possible, not exactly. A police tag (to me) says lawful affiliation, and ID mounted takes precedence. But to you it says otherwise. Who is going to adjudicate?
Well, there are shades of grey here rather than black and white distinctions on the question of what is acceptable. That's the problem. The sorts of things that stretch the imagination too far are docking at an enemy base, using an enemy ship ....blah, etc.....and the list goes on. But not all offences are equal. I favour the occasional extraordinary exception. But all it really takes is one person to feel it is unfair and out of character for any unusual set up to get reported. After that the decision is with the admins. We can either trust them to make the judgement call or not. Who else is going to do it?
My earlier point about exceptions usually having the effect of gaining a PvP advantage: yes, I admit there are many exceptions that don't work this way. And many unusual set ups centred around ship choice are actually pretty understandable considering how ridiculous the alternatives might be. And I agree that a server of standards based on NPCs might be pretty boring and unattractive.
Rather than fix this whole thing, maybe the most unacceptable breaches could be identified and tackled first.
Ok, I see that this is going some way apart from the initial topic. Here's a more specific proposal.
1) We have a forum named "Special Role-Playing Characters" as a subforum for general RP;
2) Each thread in this forum titled with character name without any additions. With the exception of title thread that explains posting rules;
3) In each thread, there are:
- Character details, possibly screenshot after it's approved,
- Link to actual forum story to which the character is connected,
- Limitations of character's new RP (what ship, equipment will be used, RP alignment etc);
4) After the thread is posted, admins and everyone else have 1 week to discuss it. If there are no negative votes, the character is approved automatically and may appear on server.
5) If there is negative feedback, author of the character might take it into account and correct certain details (in which case he's also approved). If character appears on server before approval or in a way different than described in his own RP, he might be sanctioned, and his thread made invisible until next attempt.
Existing characters that have significant divergence in their RP should also post such threads, with the difference that they don't have to wait one week.
So, what do you think? I'll be discussing this with admins, and if there are no better proposals here, we'll be implementing something similar to what I said soon enough.
