[6.19] Pirates have a right to deal as much damage as they see fit before or after demanding money from a trader ship, but killing trader ship before demanding money or cargo is not allowed.
If I let you stay there at full health all it does is give you a larger window to call for help. Every pirate learns this the hard way. "Hold on I'm paying you I'm just a slow typer.." Next thing you know the donuts guzzlers are flying out of no where spit'n crumbs yell'n for me to halt. Some how it seems people type faster when their ship is getting shot. And for the record telling me to stop shooting over and over again is not helping you.
I'm making this post because of a player ( a trader in a Whale ) that was screaming that If I ever did it again "I WILL HAVE YOU BANNED" for me, an Outcast Pirate, for attacking a Trader... get this... "without provocation" LOL
"Right, navy boy, you come closer than 8k here and ill make sure this trader dies before you can touch me. I'm sure your boss will be glad you risked an innocent life only to catch a petty criminal"
Sincerely suggest you don't start firing on a trader as soon as he shows. Makes them panic on one side, and it's a pain in the arse to those traders who weren't planning on fleeing. Besides, you can easily finish the jackass off within the time it takes for the lawfuls to show, or as Sindy said you can claim hostage.

And hope that the LPI actually decide to roleplay it out, rather than just go in all guns blazing. They'll figure they can pop you before you can get the transport, or you'll forget the transport and shoot them. At least, that's my experience with trying to roleplay anything but a prelude to combat with police/military.
Just ignore traders like that. It happens all the time, just be wary that a trader is more likely to run or fight back if you start shooting them as well. Some genuinely co-operate, especially if they're in a system not occupied by police: ie, any system other than NY in Liberty.
