2. Methinks it's illegal to ask for a signature in return for actual money. Specifically why because the only source of such things is copyrighted and I don't have any permissions(except non-commercial/non-monetary gain rights). So don't even go there.

People commission artists on the internet to provide them with custom works of art all the time. It's in no way illegal. A commissioned signature would not be able to show any ships or words specific to freelancer, however.
