Sleip, nicely done as always. I agree on the point about brightness; especially on the logo/icon, if the colors could be a bit darker, that would be great. Also, would it be possible to replace the Eagle with a Spatial, as a more distinctive IMG vessel?
Orin, thanks to you as well for giving this a go. Yours does have a certain flair to it, but it seems a bit too...fancy, rather than more industrial. Also, the crown doesn't really fit the faction politics.
Glad to see more attempts at this. I'm sure we would not have trouble raising the award for the finished product...
I think the correct word is more technological, rather than fancy or industrial. The old dirty mining look seems far too outdated, the pick-axe motifs are already pushing it, seeing as plasma torches and laser saws are most likely the hand-held devices of Sirius. I tried to make it much more advanced, hence the digital looking aspects.
IMG started in Bretonia, so I thought something a mite reminiscent of Bretonian culture would make for a good idea. Apart from that, the IMG have progressed past simply mining. They fight massive conflicts against the two largest criminal contingents in Sirius, and have bases flung out in every direction. I'd like to think they felt a little bit of pride in their independence and power, so I put the crown in.
Anyways, whatever. I made it for another IMG faction anyways.;)

Orin, please don't take me wrong. In and of itself, it's nice work. What I said, I meant, however. The logo segment of the banner would work far better for the Gallic mining company than IMG, with the crown and the backdrop that almost looks like multiple fleur de lis superimposed on each other. It just seems less raw and industrial and much more refined than IMG actually is. And again, the crown doesn't make sense: crowns represent domination, not autonomy, and that doesn't really correspond to IMG RP.
As far as the technology is concerned, many guilds or other organizations in real life use historical symbols as a way to recall a certain past (no doubt partially invented) as part of their contemporary identity, so I really don't have a problem with that per se. That would be like telling a military or police force not to use a shield symbol since they use energy force fields in Sirius. Moreover, getting picky about hand-tools isn't all that relevant since IMG doesn't do any hand-mining anyway. That said, they are representative of more than just mining, though: hard work, independent workers, etc., things those symbols have represented throughout history.
Your point about progressing beyond mining is well taken, and as I said earlier, I'd welcome elements that represented our other operations.
