Oso, remember that when a cruiser thrusts and dodges, it can barely, if at all, hit a battleship. Therefor, the BS regens its shield as well, while being able to hit the cruiser occasionally, hurting its shield. Before though, a frigate could sit still and have a decent chance at being missed, while having same shield as BS, and almost as much firepower.
Right now it can kill cruisers, and can seriously damage a BS before dieing. Thats how it was supposed to be. Everything in a mod and game is trial and error, you can't get balances perfect until its been tried. Stop pissing and moaning because your ship isn't the best capship out there anymore. Balancing means making it even, not making one ship better than all others.
Here is the rank chart for capships.
battleships
frigates
cruisers
gunboats
fighters;
VHF
MKII LF
HF
LF
Bombers are in between fighters and capships.
Everything has things happen to their favorite ships. Hell, lots of people liked, and still do, the Ravenclaw. It got nerfed, some think a little too much. Others don't. But thats balancing. It was too good a fighter before, and no one went about disagreeing like this. They stated their case, and left it at that. Your trying to tell everyone else that they are wrong, as well as the mod creator, and that you, and you alone are right.
I shall make my comments for they have as much worth as yours. However, I would appreciate it if the direct personal comments would remain your personal thoughts. I have been courteous and supportive of this community, but if it devolves into ad hominem attacks ("Stop pissing and moaning because your ship isn't the best capship out there anymore") (Dab) let's say, it is fortunate that all concerned are seperated by space and time. In addition, the balance you are refering to shall never be met. There will always be a new strategy and maneuver. My whole point is to enjoy the game instead of tinkering until its essence and worth is sucked dry. Design and create, but let the cards land where they may. It is the Great Game.
In conclusion, I am not telling anyone they are wrong I am zealously advocating to keep the Frigate as it was, where as, it is others fearing their precious vessels would no longer be "the best capship." Case in point, " (Igiss) Removal of level 10 shields from Frigates was one of the requests I got for the new version." So, as to "pissing and whining" who cast the first stone?
My compliments

P.S. My thanks Ant (His post below). Plus, being a Beta version there is still a chance to regain what was lost. So I shall continue my advocacy until the final curtain.
I think Dab was the only person to suggest Frigate shields be lowered to level 9. No-one else I've talked to seemed to think it was necessary. The tests showed it to be pretty well balanced with class 10 shields.
A bit sad really. With the class 10 guns being increased in power, the Frigate would already be struggling in a one on one fight with a BS. Now it's an easy target for most cruisers as well.
yea, the testing was pretty extensive, and I think the results were conclusive for them as they were. My RH pi-cruiser coul take one down now, no problem.

I'm a bit mystified about the Corsair Dreadnaught as well.
The hitbox seems a bit buggy sure...but it's not that difficult to hit. I managed to take one down with a Bretonian battleship without to many problems.
I wander how biased are those tests, I suggested the dropping of the shields too. As Dab said, the frigates are both quite unhittable when it comes to the hull, I was able to just fly through half of your beloved frigate. It is an unfair ship imo. Not to mention it was meant to be a cruiser with more firepower, not a battleship with near cruiser maneuverability, a bit less firepower and much smaller.
This is turning into the same bitching about the Viper. I'm sorry, but you guys are not talking about tactics there, you're talking about an unhittable ship.
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor

If meant as such, should have been designed as such. It has only become an issue now since it has become an effective weapon, or would have been changed long ago. have you even flown the vessel. It is not manueverable. It handles just like a bloody RH BS, and I have flown one of those. I have also flown the Red hessian cruiser and the Frigate doesn't come close to it. Un-hittable is foolish. I have been near dead so many times, but due to good control configuration of keyboard and managing my power well I have defeated the precious BS. This premise of balance is a farce. Frigate has been as it was for several versions and this position of balance is a cover.

Its problem is that someone who isn't a battleship-lover (myself), but is still decent (myself) can't hit them because, well, I can't find the hit box at all! That, and the ship doesn't fit discovery at all. It looks too much like a Star Wars ship.
I'm staying out of the Frigate argument. I don't have one, nor have I fought one.
Forgive me. However, must stress one more point. My load out if interested is, 2 infernos (lvl9) 2 razor (lvl9), 6 basic cruiser turrets lvl 9, and two BS turrets, my armor is 300,000 with ugrade VIII so it makes it around 810,000, my shield (whoa scary0 was lvl 10, 450,000 i think) plus 3 million in power. Now, I have faced several BS, and one I cannot name, you know who you are. Put for example I faced Skylanzer who was in a Osiris or NY DN, as to armor lets go with Osiris since it has less: 340,000 assume upgrade (did not have time to scan him) makes him 918,000 armor and assuming 12 guns lvl 10 and 7 million power. oh, forgot he gets 700 bat/bots to my 600. Now, according to these figures the guy should have toasted me, but instead he ran. It wasn't because of the fighters, they just got there, and I know he had more bats and bots than me.
I was outgunned, out powered, and slightly out aromored (almost 100K worth). My only advantage, as a crusiers thruster, is the shield and he has the same dang shield with more power behind it. So, it wasn't just my ship, i kicked his but due to planning and preparation. Now the bar has been raised not becuase of an imbalance, but becuase a ship once thought useless has become effective.
