the concept i made as a revision is practicly a verticle design, too - heavier than the bottlenose - but not too different in shape to the bottlenose to justify a 2nd gunboat.
also AoMs quality of mesh and skinning works is very good on the current orca - just cause some ppl don t like the shape doesn t make a bad model.
Thanks Jinx for the reply.
What i'm trying to say, is that the current Orca model doesn't fit into the theme of BHG shipline. It's not that bad of a model, but it's not superb either. Your revision though, is simply amazing.
Entire BHG shipline [except Orca of course], the vanilla ships as well as the new ones, are trying to resemble, with the vertical flat shapes and fin/wing positioning, a fishy shape. The Orca however, is a boat. I don't know who and why wanted to break one of the most distinctive shiplines in the mod with this, but it's just obvious to me that it was a bad idea.
Now, i don't know what's going on out there in the dev-land, maybe you're busy and don't have enough time to attend to each and every idea because of other urgent matters. I just want to express my opinion.
Please take another look at this if you can. It's sad to see such great concepts like this go to waste.
Perhaps you could tinker with it a bit, to make it closer in size and profile to old Orca, and making it different enough from the Bottlenose so that Your Orca has a chance to be accepted.
Here's a quick concept i made, maybe it'll come in handy ?
It's longer, nearly as long as the old Orca, effectively making it almost twice as long as the Bottlenose.
It's broader, to depict the shape of a massive predator. Twice+ as fat as the Bottlenose.
Front profile similar in surface to old Orca.
Side profile larger than both Orca and Bottlenose, aka snac-magnet.
Top-down profile similar to old Orca; due to the wings it's broader, but shorter. Bottlenose in this comparision is tiny.
Red cockpit glow added to resemble the bloodthirsty eyes of the killer-whale ^^
the thresher, bullhead, bottlenose ( and probably the mako, too ) are meant to be "outdated" ... the orca is the BHGs design future - it is the "new" capital ship.

Tell me what you think.
Funny thing, Jinx is too polite to point it out, but that looks awfully familiar to something you can see in THIS thread, in the THIRD post, 7th model down.
It's titled "Orca Revision" and was rejected by the devs for whatever reason.
I reckon it's just too much of a coincidence that the two models look so much alike, except that one has red cockpit windows....
Now, I don't know if Jinx made all of the models in that thread or not, it is stated that they are renders, but not who they are made by.

I'm under the impression that you haven't read and/or comprehended mine and Jinxs' posts, and that you picked one of them at random and replied.

No, I read several of the posts in question, looked at both of the pictures and compared them.
I may well have jumped to a conclusion that was, shall we say, incorrect.
I'll say this right now, I'm not perfect, I make mistakes.
I like the current AP shipline (hunters). I just think that the Orca needs to go, it looks, well, quite frankly, completely hideous. I mean, it's not a bad model, but compared to the rest of the AP line? No, ugh ugh please just no. I love the "fish-like" look the AP line maintains, and they do it in a way such that the ships don't make you want to NOT fly them, unlike the Bretonian ones:haha:. The fighters have been there since vanilla, and honestly, the caps look like they have been too. Changing them now is just an awful, awful choice, and I'm surprised there haven't been more complaints about it.
