Quote:Also, I'd like to point out a thankee to Exile for sharing the pile of space pics that I've been dissecting and using while I mess around with the Gimp.
[color=#FF9900]Well, thank you for the comment Sov, and the first: the blue one, it's a Corvo Explorer actually;)It's supposed to be moving swiftly across the space venue.
But thanks for the Gaian comment, I rather like it as well ^^
For a Gaian, I'm going to agree with l'il-Taylor-lover here. The Gaians are a colorful little band, despite being tree-hugging hippies in most people's minds. The man neither looks like a tree-hugging hippie nor seems like the kind of guy who cares about the environment in any capacity, between the facial expression (keeping in mind that the expression on a face in a sig usually is a statement of character) and the quote.
It'd be a beautiful IND sig, as I said before- but for Gaians not so much.
For the Corvo sig, now that I know what it is, I can go into more detail...
Exploration, particularly with the quote "to explore and wonder" in it, I would expect a gorgeous display of the majesty of some bright frontier. Awe-striking beauty, rather than hard and "down to earth" (or space, rather:P) muted tones.
The sig itself is beautiful, as always, though I don't feel it matches its intended message. It seems more suited to a dark and somewhat tragic corporate "villain" or some sort of puppetmaster (good or evil) than an explorer.
Compare Battlestar Galactica (the new one) to Star Trek (whichever, they all share this). BSG is about the gritty, tragic lives and stories of humanity desperately trying not to be exterminated. Ships are dark and grimy, the music makes extensive use of cellos, snare drums, and bass drums. Star Trek, on the other hand, is about man claiming its place in the universe, exploring the wonders found even within our own galaxy. Ships are coated with a bloom-like effect, most Federation ships are off-white or light gray, and the music is filled with brass, flutes, and symbols.
Both BSG (particularly "Daybreak") and the new Star Trek are very pretty and modern-looking. However, the message is different, and the selection of tones and music changes to match.
Both of the sigs you have here are very professional and well-made. However, they don't match their message. Do you see what I mean?
Also, if someone could comment on the assorted stuff I've spammed the last page with, specifically on how to make it look more "professional", that'd be great.
The Corvo signature image is supposed to be "dark & gloomy", the research/explorer used to be quite a bright and happy explorer, until some months ago when they where close to obliterated by Nomads (Read "The Hades Strand"), now they explore and search for something (I will not utter here). As said, it is supposed to gloomy, dark and quite depressing:)
May have to change the Quote how ever, in order to show this.
Any sugestions?
About the Gaian, well, to be honest, the guy in the image is the only image I have of him, and its black & white. But the guy, he is supposed to be quite insane.. And well, I wanted the man to sort of "glow" with that insanity. As his ideals go with the Gaians hand in hand, he became an Gaian and became a fugitive in Bretonia.
This one's pretty standard. By that I mean lame. It's a background, a ship, a logo, and some text. Blah. I didn't even do anything to the text.
So I took the funky old one, and basically moved the background into the text.
I'm never going to do my homework, am I...
Most of this will probably never be seen again, but I'm learning as I go. If you see anything I could do to make it look more professional, please point it out.
