Being son of a rheinland military major, Heinrich Hessel followed his own fathers steps. First having joined the rheinland police and then the military, he is now a lieutenant within the military, flying a wrath under command of the 185th fleet, commanded by admiral Hans J?nger Richter. His father, dead in battle against the unioners, was a memorable, remarkable pilot within the military, having earned medals of honour due to his outstanding actions.
For some weeks, Hessel had indentified a lot of alien activity near the Sigma 13 jump hole in the New Berlin system, not far from the trade lane. These were identified in his scanners as The Wild, a lost rheinland fleet contaminated by the nomads during the nomad war. Having destroyed several of these ships, Hessel remembered about a member of his family, his uncle, Karl Hessel, who served the Order. The cause of his death, five years ago, are shrouded in mystery, and, although the rheinland military retrieved the files about his death, Hessel was never able to get access to these files, as he is not part of the officer club.
A old man barres Hessel from enter through a door.
- I need those files. I have fight the Wild and I need to known what happened to my uncle.
- Sorry sir say the old man, in a very snobish voice you cant enter, as you are not part of the officers club.
- But Im a lieutenant! Ive seem lieutenants in your club!
- Im sorry sir, butwe have rules, you cant join since the president of the club dont want anyone of the 185th fleet in. The reasons are confidential.
In a table in the refeitory of the military in New Berlin, Hessel talks with Kramer, one of his buddies in his wing.
- Personal vendettas, Hessel. They have a personal vendettas against admiral Richter as he rebelled against the admiralty and leaded his fleet against the nomads before the Wild appeared, having taking it to one of the Unknown systems. He returned victorious, but dont received recognition, as he collaborated with the Order and at that time, the military was at odds with the Order.
- How do you known that?
- My father told me. Your uncle died when the Order 1st fleet was destroyed by the nomads five years ago, after Richters expedition. Then a squadron within the Order made deals with the military and now the rheinland government is friendly with this squadron. This squadron is what remained of the five fleets of the Order.
- You said remained? What happened with the other four fleets?
- I dont known. Nor my father knowns that. And the Order is still allied with the corsairs, so - Kramer low his voice we have lots of corruption going on here, alien artifacts smuggling, anything, you cant even imagine
Karl Hessel always complained about the corruption inside the Rheinland government. During the nomad war, was the case about the nomad infiltration. At that time Karl was a youngster serving under the military and was shocked when the nomad infiltration was revealed to the public. This mined his confidence in the military. After that, came the miserable temporary government, and then rheinland was again drowned in a corporative kind of government, like the current one on Kusari, always bowing down to private interests, especially interests coming from Liberty companies. He never questioned that to his superiors, and when he suddenly leaved for the Order, his friends were shocked, and his captain demanded a explanation. He was hunted down by unioners who had vendettas against him, but he soon was welcomed in planet Toledo.
Karl Hessel participated in the war against the liberty navy, where the Order was victorious, and in that war he had become a wing commander. Then one year later the nomads brought several battleships to Omicron Minor, and several nomads escaped from the secret bases in Toledo where macabre experiments were being conducted by orders of the admiral of the first fleet.
Before joining the Order, Karl was under command of Richter, and the explanation he gave to his captain during his departure soon reached the ears of the old admiral. Richter paid attention to such words, and then decided to lead a expedition against the nomads. After that, all is darkened about the destiny of several order fighters, who were captured by the nomads.
Hessel decides to take a drastic action. He will himself attack the Wild hideout, alone and without any support. He takes a sensor with his ship, that he pretends to put in any asteroid near the Wild base. This sensor will get any transmission coming from The Wild pilots.
Hessel then departed to Dresden, as he dont want to call attention from the authorities on Stuttgart about his trip to Omega 11, where the hessian enclave is.
Kramer (in the refeitory): - The enclave is a dangerous area, Hessel. There lived a legendary hessian marine, Gundahar Backwater Schmidt. Now he is a zoner, but he have parents in the region. He had a horrible scar in his face, and was very ruthless.
Hessel: - They dont scare me. I already fought the hessians before.
Hessel never was in Dresden before. The system is full of lava fields, and very underdeveloped. Near Bautzen station he found more Wild pilots. He then blowed the ship of one infected pilot, but before he proceed to capture the escape pod, a bounty hunter shoted it, killing the infected.
[attachmentid=2389]
Hessel opened communications with the bounty hunter: - Why you killed him? I was going to capture and interrogate him.
The bounty hunter answered swiftly: - Are you crazy, military? If you open the escape pod, the nomad can jump from his throat direct to yours. Do you want such risk?
Hessel proceeded to Battleship Altenburg, where he talked with commander Sven Metzger, asking more information about the Wild. The commander promised to handle him all he knowns, but Hessel was to accomplish two missions. First one was against the Bundschuh, and the second against the hessians. The missions were quickly accomplished, and Hessel uploaded the datafiles to his neural net. The location of the Wild bases, according to the military, was in Omega 55.
The music runs in a jukebox in the corner of the bar, dark music in the dark corner enclosed in the midnight. Its Freital base, and the bar is empty, only the bartender and a woman drinks from their glasses.
The woman looks to the big windows glasses to the horizon of stars, almight stars who made man feel as small in the middle of nothingness, and woman in equal measure.
Then a man enters in the room, dressed in black. His right eye is a red cyber implant, the small laser marking some centimeters from his head, his face shows cruelty and suffering, implants are through his back neck. He go to the balcony. The bartender says:
- Long time no see, Friedrich.
- Long timewhat you have of news there?
- I have a new drink, arrived this week. Its called bluedrop. A softer version of cardamine.
- Sowe are all going to be mutants now?
- More than what you are? says the blonde woman.
- WellIm not a mutant, just a, lets sayenhanced person
- How many did you kill in your incursions recently?
- Many corsairs and bounty hunters, my mistress. But also rheinlanders, the infected ones.
- You are very courageous says the bartender few go there, especially alone.
- I brought their heads to be sold, they will be shipped for research far from here.
- Your cousin brought news, he is now in a military zoner organization says the woman.
- I dont care for him, he is not a hessian anymore. Gundahar is very old for my tastes.
Another man enters the bar, dressed in green, his head skinned.
- Commander Schuler says Friedrich Can I known for what reasons you are awoke at this time?
- I have a operation right now, for you, Friedrich Wilhelm Schmidt. You come with me, I show you the way.
Schuler throws a datafile in his table, at his office, minutes later. Friedrich get it.
- Rumours says that part of the lost fleet from the Order was infected by the nomads and is right there in Omega 55.
- And in what this interest us?
- We will ship them for Cryer pharmaceulticals, through the lane hackers. They want it for research and will pay a high price.
- Hmm and my comission?
- 10% of the value.
- No way.
- Ok, 20% is good for you? I have costs for shipping.
- Id say 50%.
- Them I will call another guy for that.
- Ok, wait30%?
- 22%.
- 25%.
- Deal.
One more mission and Im dead, thinks Friedrich. He remembers quite well when his Raven Claw had blowed to pieces and he was rescued by a hessian cruiser that was just passing there, and the other time he was rescued by the Perseus destroyer. Anyway, he always lose a lot of money as he have to put another fighter there. His fortune is going away, being depleted like a ammunition barrel in a missile launcher. Still Friedrich loves his fighter, the Wolfstorm. Fitted with codenames, three Iron Hammers from the obscure Wolf Industries who also manufactured the fighter and sold to him through the junkers. New models are always at disposition to the pirates.
Friedrich remember the old days, when he was a mine working for Kruger, and when he was fired to reduce costs. Unemployed, he was given shelter by his cousin and the hessians.
Gundahar: - Do you still believe in honour, Friedrich? Look to my scarthe military did this to meIve saw my family in the most miserable conditions, my woman and two daughters, hungry. I begged for money in Leipzig station, and still a lot of beggars live in the most low levels, and they are removed through the airlock, in a despicable manner that, if this was made known to the big rich centers in New Berlin, the reputation of Kruger minerals and the military was to go down in such a few time.
His big beard, that big, blond beard. His lack of manners was impressive.
Gundahar: - Thrown by the airlock, thats is the solution for our problemsnobody needs the miners anymore, eh?
Friedrich closes his eyes, sitted in the cockpit.
Gundahar voices fades away: - I was going miserabledo I care that everybody call us backwaters? I dont care anymore, It doesnt mateeeeerrrr.
Friedrich grinds his teeth.
- How are you going, Friedrich? asks commander Schuler, in the communications channel.
- I dont pick nothing in the scanners, just the Wild ships, all wrath models
The ship get a heavy damage, bots and bats are used, but it survives the attackseveral Wild ships, dozens of them, against one single fighter. But the Wolfstorm resists, as perseverance is its mark.
[attachmentid=2401]
After all the Wild ships are destroyed, burning in green flames, Wolfstorm cruise until it finds a planet, marked as unknown in the scanners. Friedrich was in this sector several times in the past, always beating the Wild, but this timesomething different is picked in the scanners, something very small.
He track the object, its a small, black tetraedron, almost invisible in the middle of the ether and even for the scanners. Maybe one of the Wild pilots dropped it? There were several debris near the usual wrecks. He also collects some of these. Seems to be parts of a ship, but not the usual ships, not the wraths used by the infected.
Later on, in Freital base, a scientist analyses it.
Friedrich: - So what is that?
Scientist: - It seems to be a keyof alien origin.
Schuler: - Maybe a nomad artifact?
Friedrich: - Or maybe the lost fleet? asks Friedrich.
Scientist: - Nothis is completely new, the date is four hundred years old.
Friedrich, pointing to the debris collected: - And the piece of the ship? It shows a two headed eagle and a star, but is not of rheiland design.
Scientist: - This one seems to be new. My analyses revealed its just 40 years old. It was destroyed earlier, and theres dust typical from nomad cannons in the external hull.
Schuler: - Then, there was a battle.
Scientist: - A fierce one, I guess.
Friedrich: - I captured six infected pilots. Should I open the pods?
Schuler: - Are you crazy? The nomads will jump rightly in your throat.
Friedrich: - Ah, common Schuleryou known im no kid. Lets open it.
They go to the deck, where the escape pods are put in order. Friedrich press the button to open the first, but it dont work.
Friedrich: - Damn! Sh*t! What is wrong with this pod?
Deck officer: - Let me try to open it, sir.
The deck officer uses a tool to open it, but as soon as air go out of the escape pod, a horrible smell fullfill the ambient, the deck officer feels dismayed. The infected pilot jump on his throat, like a vampire, and bite him until he bleeds. Lots of blood slips through his neck and down his chest. Schuler is paralysed by fear, but Friedrich shoots down the military with a gun, the bullet going straigh in the forehead. Then a blue, deformed mass opens the chest of the military, spilling blood everywhere in large quantities, and his entrails with it. The nomad jumps to the ground. Friedrich is stunned for a second for such horrible is that creature, spilling a blue and green liquid to the ground. A marine runs to act, but the nomad runs and dodges his first shoot, then jump on his face, and he screens in terror. Friedrich try to have a good angle from the target, but he hesitates to shoot as he might hit the marine. He shoots, and miss. The marine bleeds from the bullet on his arm, as he try to get rid of the nomad suffocating him on his face. The nomad jumps on his throat, his face bleeds, the nomad pierce his shoulders and his chest, and then enter in. The convulsions are scaring. Friedrich shoots more, as the marine is at this time already dead. Blood and blue liquid fills the deck.
Schuler: - Whatwhat was that? I never saw such
Friedrich: - Its a nomad.
Schuler: - Yes, buthow he enters in
Friedrich: - Dont be stupid right now, commander.
Scientist: - Do you still wants to open the others?
Friedrich: - I will do that.
Friedrich takes the tool from the ground, then forces the door and opens it. The next infected dont jump on his throat in the first moment, as he seems to be still semi-conscious from the torpor of the pod gases. Friedrich shots him in the belly, and he falls.
Friedrich: - Call the doctors, bring him to the medical center.
Scientist: - How do you known the nomad hides a sensible part in the belly?
Friedrich: - I dont known it.
The doctors uses a drug that let the infected half conscious, but capable of talking. After removing the bullet and healing the wound, the doctors deliver him to interrogation.
Schuler shows the artifact: - Sowhat is this?
The infected is surprised by the presence of the artifact.
Schuler: - Will you answer the question?
Friedrich drowns him in a water vessel in the table.
Infected: - ArghI say- he is brought back, looks to Friedrich, then to Schuler: - Itsfrom a ship
Friedrich: - Nomad ship?
Infected: - No, it was inside a human capital shipcalled the Twilight.
Friedrich drowns him again.
Schuler: - This is a alien artifact.
Infected: - Yes, but was in a human ship. Its a shipfrom very far, they camefrom the Altair sector.
Schuler and Friedrich look to each other. The universe hides secrets of the most diverse forms.
Hessel had arrived at Omega 11, and when going to the hole to Omega 55 he and Wolfstorm had their first meeting. The battle was fierce, with no result, and the two sides retreating. The Wolfstorm entered the hole to Omega 55, heavily damaged, and Hessel docked at Solarius station for repairs, returning full armed.
But as he crossed the hole, the Wild jumped at him in packs, and his ship was blowed up to pieces. The Wolfstorm was still engaging the Wild, and when it had cleaned the sector, it tracked down the military escape pod.
Hessel was brought into custody to Freital base, and then proceded to interrogation.
Schuler: So, will you tell us what you are doing so far from home?
Hessel: I have nothing to say to you.
Schuler: You have to say if you want live.
Hessel: Im not scared at you.
Schuler: Then you will have to die.
Friedrich get Hessel by his hair and drown him on the water. Hessel sufocates, the feeling is horrible, desperation takes over his mind. He try to get rid of the hessian hands, holding him firmly against the water. Friedrich rises him up again.
Schuler: So? Is the military planning some invasion on our backwater system, like the executives of Kruger minerals usually calls Omega 11?
Hessel: I havenothingto sayyou can kill me, if you want.
Friedrich drown Hessel again, until he is half-conscious.
Schuler looks to Friedrich: Do you think the military is going after the first fleet ship?
Hessel awakens from his torpor as he listens Schuler. He rises up and looks to him: First fleet?
Friedrich smiles, then quick the chair, and Hessel falls down. He takes his pistol, ready to shoot at the military.
Hessel: Wait! II have some information
Friedrich gives a sadic smile: Say.
Hessel rises from the ground, and trembles in fear for his life: My unclehis wasin the Orderhe was a memberof the first fleet.
Schuler gives a severe look to Hessel.
Schuler: What do you known about it?
Hessel: Little.
Friedrich rises the chair: Sit.
Schuler: So you uncle was from the Order, huh?
Hessel sits back: They are hidinga lot of things from me.
Schuler: As they do everytime.
Friedrich smiles: Bunch of hypocrites.
Schuler laughs: First we want to known if you are not alone. Your name - he looks to the military uniform Hessel huh?
Hessel: Heinrich Hessel. My uncle was Karl Hessel, he died after the 185th fleet expedition on the edge worlds, but his body was never retrieved as he was in the Order. The military have information about him, but I cant access as I not part of the club.
Schuler: Not part of the club? And this uniform, what is?
Hessel: I mean, the officer club. Nor Richter is.
Friedrich: And who is Richter?
Hessel: Our fleet admiral. He rebelled against the admiralty to put his expedition in order. Nobody likes him.
Friedrich: Good news, division inside the military, everything we want.
Schuler: May the ubers die with their personal vendettas.
Friedrich: I endorse it.
Schuler laughs again.
Hessel: I retrieved information in Altenburg about the Wild, and I think my uncle was infected and brought to them.
Schuler: When this expedition happened?
Hessel: Five years ago.
Schuler: Interesting. So you think the lost fleet is in Omega 55 and was integrated with the Wild, and state to us theres a division in the military and you cant have any information about your uncle. Nice trainment boy. Friedrich, kill him.
Hessel: No! Im not lying! Thats true! They really have a officers club, with caviars and parties. I hear a rumour they comemorated the death of the son of a colonel in the 185th, with champagne and everything, in one of the most expensive restaurants in New Berlin! And this guy was one of the best pilots in the 185th. He was murdered in the street, nobody knows who did that. My uncle, he leaved the military to join the Order, because he always thought the rheinland government was utterly corrupt. When he departed to Toledo, he was hunted down by the unioners because they hated him
Schuler: Unioners?
Friedrich: Scum.
Schuler: Certainly your uncle did a good job against the unioners, but since he was in the military, he still shooted at hessians like you probably did. And he joined the Order, that is allied with the corsairs.
Friedrich: The worsest scum of Sirius.
Hessel: So why you are going after the first fleet?
Schuler: Its we who made questions, not you.
Hessel screams: I demand to known, as I will die anyway! Do you want to shoot me, shoot me now then!
Friedrich takes the gun again and shot at Hessels right leg. The military falls to the ground in horrible pain.
Schuler: That was stupid, Friedrich. Since when you have to obey orders from a military? Are you out of your mind?
Friedrich: Well, hmmyou said to kill him anyway. I just think he might have some value.
Schuler: Yeah, sure. Lets contact the military and see how many they will pay for this pilot. For now, the doctors will treat his wounds.
Later on, Schuler contacts the rheinland government through a encoded, high secure, transmission. A fat man appears in the screen.
Schuler: Heeeythere you are, fat f**k. Do you want to save some life, fat f**k? So you can save one of your pilots today. Do I want the military to catch me? Maybe I do, maybe I dont. Fat f**k!
Rheilander: III will pass this transmission to another officer.
Another guy arrives, he seems to be a homosexual by his looks, and talks in a very snobish manner:
Schuler: Ok, I have one of your pilots here, from the 185th. If you want him alive, send us
Rheilander: You said 185th? You can kill him. We are going to a party today, in a uber restaurant here on New Berlin. The 185th have such bad tastes, you known that? Always eating at cheap, simple restaurants. That guy, Richter, he lives like a spartan. So its better that you turn this thing off, or we will send some outcast privateers armed with nomad cannons after you, as we are already picking the origin of the signal.
Schuler turn the communications off: Stupid mongrel. He cant even came heremoron
Some hours passes, and Hessel is healed by the advanced medicine of Sirius.
Friedrich gets Hessel to the deck.
Hessel: So, I will never known what happened to my uncle since those stupid snobs dont let me access the filesnice, was my faulty after all to fall into your handsbetter to have died in space, like a true ace. Do you known what, hessian? I wish the entire rheinland military blow themselves up, including the 185th as they never took any action against the general opinion held against them
Friedrich: Shut up!
Hessel turns to him, his hands fettered.
Friedrich: By the back. I shoot by the back.
Hessel: Well, how dishonourable.
Friedrich: What did you say? Dishonourable? Your little piece of sh*t! Was you already outnumbered? I was. Most of the time I am, and I have to fight dirty if I want to survive! How can you demand honour from me if you, the so-called upholders of the law, cant have honour with your own people? How can you speak about honour and dignity, when you thrown unemployed people by the airlock, like you do in Lepzig? You f**king a**hole!
Hessel: I dont known what you are talking about.
Friedrich: Certainly not. the gun touches Hessels back of the neck You only obey orders, dont is lapdog? Never question the authorities, never look to the state of the people, never look to what happens to the unemployedthrown by the airlock! You thrown human beings by the airlock! You sh*t! You f**king sh*t!
Friedrich gives a punch on Hessel with the weapon, in such way that the military falls to the ground: I will not just kill you with a bullet. This must have some torture, so that you feel what I feel inside me.
Hessel looks around, the rudeness on their faces, the dirty on their clothes, the look on their eyesand for a moment, he feels paralyzed by them. However, in the next moment, a explosion is heard. A deck officer screams: corsairs!
The alarm is raised. Someone screens: They are bringing marines! Transport on scanners!
Friedrich looks around, then looks to Hessel: I will take care of you later.
Friedrich runs to the Wolfstorm, in a deck full of stilletos and sabres. Hessel rises up and runs. He needs to get rid of the shackles. He enters into a small depot and find some miners tools. Theres a laser cannon for mining there. Hessel have some difficult to handle it as it is by his back, and he have to hide behind the iron door as hessian pilots passes by in the corridor. He finally put the laser cannon above a box, point it upwards, and then turns it on. The laser breaches the shackles and he finds himself free. Hessel also finds some deck personel clothes. He dress them, put a hat in his head and pass by the hessians until he reach the deck. Now it happens that he knowns two of the codes used by the hessians to activate their ships. The first dont works, but the second have its effect, and the ship rises from the ground.
Hessel runs to Solarius station, where his neural net is identified by the scanners. The Daumann construction employees welcome him. He is given cofee and some rest. Then two military guys appear in the deck.
- What is that? Who are you?
- We are from the 120th fleet, sir. We are here to escort you back in our gunboat to Rheinland Space.
- How do you known I was to be here?
- We tracked you says the other military by a request from the officers club. We want you come back with us to Rheinland.
- No, I will not go!
They take him by his arms and rise him from the chair were he sits. Hessel try to get rid of them, but he is weakened by the stress. They get him to the gunboat and put shackles in him. Prisoner, again. He is throwed in a prisoner pod, used for transportation of criminals. Something happened backhome, someone discovered Hessel was going to the Omegas, and someone missed his ship in the decks.
Anyway, the hessians, leadered by Wolfstorm, attacked the gunboat in packs. The gunboat was quickly destroyed, and the hessians looted the cargo, right near planet Schutz.
And soon Hessel was back to the hessian base. The hessians, seeing he was in a prisoner pod, took him in another light this time. Friedrich opened the pod and take the military in his hands, then brought him to a room.
Schuler, having captured the gun commander, turn again to communications with the rheiland military trying to get some money from rescues. A fat man appears in the screen, smoking a cigar.
Schuler: How is two plus two, fat f**k? Fivetwo plus two, at least this is what the department of defense thinks, but in my book, two plus two is a three, and if we meet your in the middle, maybe we can make a fourfour victims. Fat f**k! Are you a faggot, fat f**k? Fat f**k!
Rheilander: III will pass this transmission to another officer.
Then came the other guy, the one who seems to be a homosexual, with his eyes painted with pink, playing a white piano.
Schuler: I will kill this fag playing piano.
Rheilander: What lack of manner, hmm!
Schuler: I have now one of your gun commanders!
Rheilander: Should I care? He certainly is not part of the club!
Schuler: He is from the 120th, not the 185th.
Rheilander: I dont care either. I already picked the signal of your transmissionsoon we will send a squadron of gunboats, all maniacs armed with nomad cannons. Hmmm? Hmmm!
Schuler turn the communications off: Stupid faggot. He cant even amass a squadron of gunboats those days, when even dragons are attacking Rheinlandfaggot
Some hours passed, and soon Hessel was flying side by side with the Wolfstorm, piloted by Friedrich. Hessel was in a sabre, better fitted to resist the shootings of the Wild in Omega 55. But his sensor that he was to put in a asteroid was lost. The hessians provided another, but since Friedrich have exchanged his information with him, Hessel now have another idea, to go until the unknown planet and take a better look at the debris found there, and letting the sensor there. Friedrich have been provided a atmospheric scanner, although this operation will be risk, as the atmospheric pressure from that planet can destroy his ship.
The mission was to be a risky one, but before they even started, more Wild were in the middle of the way to fight, as of always. They survived, but for some reason, Hessel got curious about the two Wilderness bases near. Wolfstorm had to return to search for him. Then a massive quantitie of Wild pilots appeared again, much bigger than the first one, and at this time, five order nephthys fighters were with them, with a mix of order and nomad loaouts.
Hessel, stunned: The first fleet!
Friedrich: The first fleet?
Then one of the nephthys fighters open communications with the two adventurers:
Karl: Heinrich?
Hessel: Uncle Karl?
Karl: Ican feel youyour presencefrom here
Friedrich: This is a trickHessel, dont fall on their trap!
Hessel: What happened, uncle?
Karl: Iknown new lifea new, revigorating lifefar from humanity
Friedrich: Hessel!!!
Some 50 Wild fighters surrounds Hessel, and run in circles around him, shooting him down easily. His escape pod is retrieved.
Friedrich: Damn bugs!
Karl speaks something in a incomprehensible language, and then the Wild attacks the Wolfstorm. But the Wolfstorm is strong, and manages to escape from destruction. Friedrich distracts them until they are out of sight, and proceed with his mission to the planet. However, the damage made on his ship put him at a even more high risky, and he is not able to reach the atmospheric level necessary for his research. Friedrich returns to Freital base in Omega 11. The mission was a complete failure.
Heinrich awaken in a frozen cell, a dark room where a strange, alien odor fills the ambient. A door opens from where a blue light came, radiating, and a familiar man, who is no more a man, come to him. Heinrich feels the shackles on his hands, as Karl approaches him:
Heinrich: Get over bug. Better to kill me than to be infected by your wretchfull spawn. I will not fall to the same destiny of my uncle.
Karl touches his chin with his right hand: Stay cool, my young. I am, still, as I was before, your uncle, Karl Hessel, but Im no more a human, but a enhanced, better being.
Heinrich: I known who you are, and you are not a better being. You obey to the hive, the wretched nomad hive.
Karl: We have been separated from the hive for 30 years, my dear. Our objective is to accomplish our only task: destroy humanity. Look to them: wretchful human race, limited in the middle of endless space. Their petty morality, their small mediocre issues, their pointless consumerism, their empty pride, their hypocrisy which dont known limits. What they are? What they known about the universe? We known much more than them, and we strive for evolution. Hence, we travel thoughout space, and mingle with other races, knowning their minds, their feelings, and taking from this the best we can use for ourselves. And we made the simbiosis. Im still Karl Hessel but Im not Karl Hessel anymore, not the one that they, the humans, wished me to be. No more cattle necessities, like sex, drugs and entertainment. No more mamal procreation, we have our own ways to reproduce each other without have to resort to such deplorable condition. I will show you, Hessel, a little bit of what we known, and you will be enlightened.
Karl touches Heinrich hands, and they feel like being part of each other. And for a moment, Heinrich smiles. All problems seems to be solved. No clubs, no intolerable snobish behaviour, no fat officers eating caviars, no more politics, no more people being throwed through the airlock. Heinrich feels himself free from the chains.
Karl: Join us, Heinrich Hessel, and you will learnhow to hate humanity.
