' Wrote:Just to make sure there's no misunderstanding: this is an educational thread.
Joe made one of those.
It went south in nine pages.
Fun Fact: Since the "creation" of the [A], the number of locked threads has risen sharply, along with the average number of flames per post, flame posts per thread, and inversely, the number of flamed subjects.
Opinionated conclusion? The [A] is a trolling attempt at causing the entire community to dissolve in a sea of unholy fire. Tsk.
Okay, I'm going to write my entire opinionated summary on why this [A] thing is illogical in-RP, and isn't much more than an excuse to beat on the Zoners for no damn reason other than "it's their turn to be attacked by someone lol".
The [A] are working with... the Corsairs? Okay, makes sense... sort of... But the Corsairs are unhappy with the zoners... why? Why are they working with their enemy, the BAF, to take out the Zoners? That's... strange. Zoners aren't able to be completely neutral, of course, but what did they do to cause the creation of an Arabic terrorist import faction? And why are these Arabs, who were supposedly part of the Coalition in the Starlancer era, now independently bombing the piss out of the Zoners of all people, let alone work with the descendants of Alliance members?
I appreciate your opinions and such but I made this thread with the purpose of getting real info on the faction, preferrably from people that are in it.
This would be no different than if I opened a thread and said, "What is AFA?" Naturally with AFA, I can go and check their Info threads.
The name is simply a nickname to their specific wing within the Corsairs. They are all Corsair "descendants" or however you wish to label that with the middle-eastern names being codenames. So to repeat that, they are as much as a Corsair as are the The Brotherhood. They are not allied to the Corsairs.
They are a wing, within the Corsairs. With their own self-proclaimed leader. Whether or not it is approved or supported by the Corsairs as a whole is up to the Elders, if they wish to kick us out from their homes, it's their decision.
As many other Corsair players have suggested in the past and as the infocards suggest regarding the Corsair vs. Zoner relationship, the neutrality or the co-existing harmony between the two is based entirely upon the Zoners being a "valuable ally" in the sense that they constantly provide food to Crete and other desired items.
The wing was formed in an attempt to get the Corsairs to wage an official war against the Zoners, or at least stop recognizing them as an friend, and instead as a target of interest, another group of pilots to loot from. This is the agenda of the Anarchist-wing. If we would ever succeed, we would then continue to take rewards from the goal. After all, why would you fight for something and once it is achieved simply walk away?
Why? It is simple. The Anarachists, did recognize the potential of keeping the Zoners as a trade-partner and saw the validity in it, but their leader, Saladin, who was formerly a Corsair who went by the nickname "Saladin the Sunkiller" ( http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...ic=70080&hl ) (please check the date to see that this character isn't just something I made a week ago) - believed that in the end, taking over the bordering territories currently strongholded by Freeports and Zoner activities, would present tactical advantages on both the war against Outcasts (Freeport-9) and Hessians (Freeport-5) but also presenting new angles to perform piracy strikes at. The last motivation would be to gain natural resources/locations where they are presented such as taking over the control of Planet Gran Canaria or simply gathering resources from the hostile take-overs of the Freeports.
In summary: A Corsair who believes that it is more valuable to destroy, loot and take-over the Zoner's presence in the Borderworlds for their own gains, rather than keeping them neutral on the basis that they will continue us with a steady flow of trade. One which Saladin thought also that he could rely on Samura, Hogosha and other allies instead. You could say a Corsair who went back to the roots of what the Corsairs were, a fearsome pirate-group that took everything that was in their path.
This paragraph above will most likely be beaten to death with arguments. But I'm only here to present my group, I'm not going to initiate a discussion. You may perceive that attitude as you wish.
The only question that remains at this point should should be: How will the Anarachists push their agenda to make the Corsairs as a nation go against the Zoners? They will perform strikes against various Freeports scattered across the Borderworlds and present their work on open broadcasts. Continue being a present threat towards the Zoners and anger them, push them to a point where they will make a mistake, such as the mistake they did when they halted all shipments towards the Corsairs, trying to force the Anarachists out through the method of black-mailing, Saladin knew that if such an event would occur he would have to rely on the pride of the Corsairs to backfire on the Zoner's plans.
Given the current situation, Saladin did indeed predict well the outcomes.
Thank you for the explanation, Sina. It really clears up a lot, and I apologize to you and the rest of the Anarchists for my behavior against you OORPly. However, one question remains in my mind. If the Arabic/Middle Eastern names are just codenames, as it appears you have said, where does the "yalalalalalala" fit in? Or is it purely to add to the air of mysteriousity and the Scary Pirate Factor?
EDIT: Might I suggest opening a faction description thread as a reference to those in the future who are confused as to who the Anarchists are? It could be useful in the long run, if the group intends to stay around as the Anarchists.
Lybia has muslim hertage too, back from reconquista times. Tripoli shipyard is in Lybia. Corsairs can have arabic heritage same as they can be have greek one or spanish one. Or as outcasts can have italian one.
So even if that isn't codenames of characters, it's okey and fits corsair roleplay.
So basically. Take out the food shipments from the Hogosha and Samura, and Corsairs starve again? Saladin's strategy kinda puts all the very nutricious eggs in just the Kusari basket...
That said, thanks for the IRP explanation Hideki. One suggestion, take it or leave it: Change that yalala to "Ayayayay!".;)
