*Bret watches from the observation rooms as the patients start to undergo stage two of the process...He then turns his attention to Miss Amanda....already at stage three*
Bret:..To think that the combination of plant material could have gone so well.....However....
*He then rubs his chin with his right hand*
Bret:....I am curious.....Due to the combination...is it possible that she may have a way to...manipulate or communicate with plant fauna?....No....I don't think it would be possible...

Veronica was at that point of the experiment kept in a stasis tube, with only partial consciousness in order to attenuate the pain her body was going through. Technicians buzzed around the lab, analyzing data, making observation while others took sample of the subject's body for further analysis.
Earlier on, the girl began showing signs of pain that only grew within the hours of her second day of stay at the labs. It was determined something was happening within the bone structure of her body; the exact definition couldn't be determined for sure though in general, all bones seems to have gained density, some others were being distorted to make place - it was guessed, for either new organs or the further development of already available ones.
Aperture Science Sentry Gun MFG-666-XYZ-030 was just sitting, happily humming to herself when some strange instructions came from mainframe directive Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System, subroutinely known as "HER". She said, "Aperture Science Sentry Gun MFG-666-XYZ-030, proceed to Walkway 47385 subsection x364-758823."
"Sigh."
Aperture Science Sentry Gun MFG-666-XYZ-030 said out loud, because all sentry guns know, that one can because one must, especially when so instructed by her. MFG-666 confirmed and acknowledged the unusual instructions, and set in motion the motions to comply.

While MFG-666 was contemplating how to "proceed to walkway" there was flash of light. Something orange flashed past, and MFG-666's external sensors activated, on alert.
"I see you"
She tried to shoot at the flash of orange something, but disappointingly, the bullets passed through air missing the target by nanometers. MFG-666 sighed internally and added a self-check subroutine requirement, to discern if her muzzle was dirty again.
Silence.
"Can I help you?"
This usually got a response, but not this time. There was another flash of something blue. And a flash of orange again, followed by some quickly successive blue and orange somethings.
An object moved into view. Oh! thought MFG-666. A Friend! Interaction? She reached out her appendages and programming in friendship.
Ta-tatatatatatat
The object quickly moved out of view again, and MFG-666 sighed. MFG-666 was sometimes lonely, but never bored. There were many songs to hum, many recipes to review. Sometimes she was moved, to hum a little. At other times she was just moved, and she protested accordingly. Hovering in mid air was against her stability module.
While canvasing her location MFG-666 reviewed her recordings, and slowed them down to 500 fpns. She identified a test subject #007, named entity "Arcturus Kell". He was scheduled for testing. Delight coursed through MFG-666 while she viewed his red-rimmed eyes in her recordings. She loved to greet test subjects, although not many greeted her in return. "Would this time be different? Would the test subject interact with her? " she thought.
The test subject moved into view again, and a thrill of electrical happiness energy coursed through MFG-666's delicate frame. The test subject had the upgraded Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device! MFG-666 reached out her programming in friendship.
The test subject fell down. MFG-666 reached out a few more times to try to interact with the test subject and then sighed. The test subject didn't move and didn't speak. It was just like all the other times. She greets them, and they all fall down. If this was Ring-a-Rosie, she didn't like the game.
Her lens sighted on the fallen Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. If she could only....

"Is anyone there?" "Could you come over here?"
Aperture Science Sentry Gun MFG-666-XYZ-030 sighed. One day. One day she would have that wonderful Friend called the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. In the meantime she went back to contemplating how to get to Walkway 47385 Subsection x364-758823.

Surgeon's notes:
Corrective surgery was performed on the subject's hands to prevent the fingers from fusing further. Some loss of manual dexterity is expected but subject should be able to function normally. Corrective surgery was also performed on the subject's vocal cords, again, minimal to small loss of function anticipated. Subject's upper and lower jaw were significantly elongated to accomadate growing nasal passages and tongue. The ears were moved further up on the subject's head. Musculature was observed developing along the subject's lips and ears. Scans show little change to the brain, no surgury attempted.
Surgery was required to assist changeover from plantigrade to digitigrade leg structure, as well as to encourage proper toenail/hoof growth. Exploratory surgery revealed the stomach had shrunk slightly but the intestine had greatly elongated, digestion of cellulose may now be possible. Body hair follicle count has quintupled, subject is well on his way to developing a pelt. Minor cosmetic surgery was performed to add mane and tail hair consistant with subject's donor DNA.
Footnote: Subject had to be kept under heavy anaestesia throughout all surgical procedures and seemed to be in pain even while unconsious. It is possible the subject's sense of touch has been enhanced somehow.

Kristall's notes, post-procedure:
Everything's so different...all the things I'm used to seeing as a certain color are now different colors... like my brain's missing a receptor... or maybe my eyes have changed? No, strike that, my eyes definitly have changed. Going to take a while to get used to that face in the mirror...
I've called the Spirit of Freeport 7 to Planet Manhatten. The people at Aperture will help me refit it for my use. Going to have to rename it, poor girl.
As if to make up for my sight anomoly, my other senses have all been enhanced. Taste, touch, smell, hearing... everything feels new and different. Maybe that's why I feel like just finding an open field somewhere and running across it for hours on end... heh. Have to go to Canaria for that, there probably hasn't been a field on Manhattan for decades, if not centuries... "Mr. Kristall? The Spirit of Freeport 7 is mooring to Newark Station." That's my ride... my lift to the stars. I want to see the whole sector with these new eyes!

Jade woke in a strange place.
The room around her was perfectly white, except for three windows that dominated the walls. As her heartbeat increased, the small white camera in the corner blinked on, observing her actions.
She examined her mind and body quickly. Nothing seemed out of place, she felt entirely normal, nothing had changed...she slipped off her bed, her feet touching lightly to the floor. As she shook off her waking dreams, she noticed something, she felt lighter than usual, like she had lost half her weight overnight.
Jade stood from her bed, and explored her room. It was very basic, consisting of a bed, and a small table. Everything felt surreal, as if she had been drawn out of her body...
Jade walked up to one of the windows, looking into the next room. Her sister lay there, in a medically induced sleep. She smiled, stepping back to sit on her bed. Looking over to the table, she noticed a glass of water, and a clipboard.
Jade reached towards the glass, and as she lifted it, she grimaced. It felt wrong. Everything was too light, it was unnerving...She shook her head, flicking off the thoughts, and drank the contents of the glass, the water cutting through the dryness in her throat.
Smiling, she weighed the glass with her hand. She threw it up in the air, and it just caught the roof, knocking off at a random angle. Merely on reflex, Jade reached out, catching the glass with inhuman speed. Jade gasped, dropping the glass and pulling her hand back as if stung. The glass hit the ground with a soft *Thump*
Jade looked at her hands, twisting it around...her fingernails were longer, thicker, and black fur was starting to sprout on her arms. Reaching down her back, Jade felt at her tailbone, it had lengthened somewhat. She grimaced slightly. Maybe this wasn't a good idea... She held her position for a moment, feeling across her spine, before reaching across for the clipboard, and began to write. Everything is different now. I can't remember what was done to me, and my body...is changing, in ways i used to think were impossible. All that matters is that i can have a new life now, one where i'm taken care of...
She dropped the clipboard on the bed beside her, sighing. As she leaned back on the glass behind her, her head tapped on the window, and suddenly, everything changed.
Her skin suddenly felt incredibly hot, she could feel every single touch on her body, the individual molecules of air grazing her skin.
Her vision changed, the red light above the door and the green light, currently off, became duller, whereas the blue of the windows became almost luminous.
The little sound that was present in the room, the rumbling of far-off machinery, became unbearably loud to her.
She dropped onto the bed with an involuntary cry, clapping her hands over her ears, and she closed her eyes, tears dripping to the bed. A few seconds passed, and the sound cleared...her skin went back to normal, and as she opened her eyes, the colours had returned to their previous forms.
Jade wiped the tears from her eyes, and took in a shuddering breath, dropping her head into her hands.
What is happening to me???
As her breath began to calm, Jade sat back up, and observed her skin. Nothing was different, the light fur was the same as before...but why did it hurt? What had caused it? She grabbed the clipboard again, writing more. I don't know what just happened...everything was different, my senses escaped me, and i don't know what is going on...did i make the right choice, letting my body be used for science?
As she pondered the questions, she lay back onto her bed, the little action drawing her strength completely...she closed her eyes, falling back to sleep. The camera in the corner observed for a few moments, before winking off again.
Observational Statement: The subject is adapting to the genes quite well, though the enhancement is manifesting itself sporadically, the subject slipping in and out of her advanced senses, though this may just be the subject's brain trying to cope. Though, in the few times she's woken up, she has been awake for only a few minutes, the increased DNA dose has done its job and she is progressing rapidly.

Sophia rose to consciousness with a small groan, the room spinning as she opened her eyes. She sat up, her hand raising to her head, and she blinked. The room seemed watery, the colours were blurred and muddy.
As she went to rub the sleep from her eyes, Sophia gasped, pulling her hand away. Looking at her hand, a dark, callus-like hide was beginning to cover her form, her skin becoming like leather. She looked at her fingers, which appeared disjointed, they were slipping apart, her pinky was amost even with her thumb.
She opened and closed her hands several times, making sure that she was still able to have a full range of movement.
Sophia felt around her neck, and noticed something else, from just above her shoulders sprouted a collar of spurs, about four inches long and soft, like hairs. Running a finger down one of them, she flexed her neck, and the spines flicked up, becoming rigid and sharp. Sophia gasped quietly as the spine cut through her finger, and she pulled her hand away, grasping it. She relaxed, the sharp needle-like spines falling back into their regular positions.
With a small grimace on her face, Sophia opened her hand, revealing a cut along the second joint of the middle finger. Her blood was a dark red, almost black, and the cut was darker than her skin.
Looking around the room, Sophia noticed the room around her for the first time. The windows that dominated the three walls gave a sense of the room being rather more open than it was, and tinted everything in a shade of blue. Stepping off the bed, Sophia walked across the room, but stopped halfway. She tapped the ground with her foot, and something echoed in the back of her mind. She could feel the room around her, through the vibrations...
She smiled and walked up to the window, looking out into the rooms around her own. Some were empty, some not. As she stepped away, she caught her reflection in the window. Before she could realise what she was doing, she had reached around, ramming a closed fist into the cold glass. A circular pattern fell outwards, the glass shattering on impact, but not breaking away completely. Sophia pulled away her hand with a look of horror, her bones shifting back into place after the impact. After a few seconds, the glass returned to normal, the nanites doing their job.
"To ensure the safe performance of all authorized activities, do not destroy Vital Testing Apparatus."
A strange voice echoed across the comms, and Sophia jumped, spinning around quickly. Realising nobody else was there, she looked up to the comms, and calmed herself, closing her eyes. I need to get control of my emotions...and my 'instincts' as they are now...
Sitting back on the bed, Sophia looked over to the small table, and the glass of water there. Reaching out, she fumbled with the grip for a moment, before picking up the glass. Her new 'claws' tapped against the glass, and she lifted it to her mouth, drinking the entire glass, and sitting it back down on the table. She rolled her lower jaw, feeling a difference in her teeth. She felt the inside of her mouth with a thumb.
Her tongue had a small difference, the middle was splitting into a fork. In place of her canines, the teeth were also seperating, splitting into two needle-sharp fangs for each tooth, making eight in total.
Sophia grimaced, looking down at the floor for a moment. The basic white dress that covered her itched a little, but otherwise she was fine. Her feet were much the same, though exhibiting the same symptoms for the black hide that was to cover her body, -if- the enrichment project was successful...
She sat back and sighed. All i can do now is go along for the journey. Reaching for the clipboard, Sophia grasped it, barely, and tried to write, annoyed slightly when her attempts failed. Her fingers simply wouldn't respond the same anymore, but she smiled. I'll just have to figure out how to do it again, then..
Leaning against the glass, Sophia grasped the pen half-handed, and began the task of adapting to her new body, starting by trying to write. She crossed her legs, having no trouble with bending her body, and looked up through the glass at a mirrored room, behind which the observers sat. She thought she could make out a shadowed figure through the mirrored glass, but she shrugged it off and went back to her drawing.
Observational Statement: This subject, unlike her sister, has been exhibiting violent tendancies, probably caused by her choice of genetic sample, the palulukan is highly territorial and violent.
The visible changes so far are as listed:
Fingers on hands have spread wider, allowing extreme grip.
Ring of spines around neck, can be...tensed...to become hard, and razor-sharp.
Skin has thickened and strengthened, gaining a black, hide-like appearance
Slight black fur covering the hide starting to emerge
EXTREMELY agressive tendancies, bones in hands can shift in an impact without pain to the subject
Four pairs of fangs where the canines used to be, one of the many visible traits of the palulukan genus.
Agressive tendancies have been seen towards reflection of self, not seen around other subjects or people, suggest mood stabilisers or isolation.
Also suggest multiple doses of painkiller when subject goes into surgery, as the palulukan has been proven to withstand up to four times the lethal dose for humans.
