I have updated the collision algorithm. I think it is working better but I still might put in a timer to allow collision damage to occur no more than every 3-4 seconds. There was a bug which seriously messed up the damage ratio calculation and it should be better now.
Collision damage due to this algorithm shouldn't happen if:
- you are hit by an NPC
- you are hit by a ship smaller than a gun boat. However a smaller ship can hit you which means you can still get damage
- you are in a tradelane
- you are in formation and hit a formed ship.
I have updated the warning text on /selfdestruct to be more explicit. If you're feeling extremely ripped off, PM me with your ship name and I will restore it. I have done so for a hand full of people already.
Some people have asked why this command exists. The main reasons are that it was technically interesting and fun to implement. Regular development work is tedious.
I originally intended that all equipment including guns should be destroyed with the ship when this command is used. This is still my intention and this will get fixed although I think I will leave an engine on the ship. In 4.86 there's a good chance the ship will be an escape pod.
The other ongoing activity is work to restore the discoveryfl.com site. This should be done in the next 24 hours.
