A few moments later, a dull roar is heard.

Outside, a Hogosha Black Dragon was skimming the water, flanked by a Raven's Talon. The RT's IFF said Freelancer.

"What the...that...running scan." Rei pressed a few buttons in her Black Dragon. The other VHF renmained silent. Rei sighed. Then she looked puzzled.

"Roar, the scans show that...no weapons made by ANYONE in the database. And I'm detecting a power core way to big for that thing. Whatever that is, it hasnt been made by a House."
"You forget." The pilot of the Midnight Roar takes a moment. "Scans indicate a 75% chance those weapons are,Gallic. Really Rei, I thought Izzy would have told you that story."

The two VHFs started,thier decent, causing rooster tails of water to be shot up behind them. Their,weapons remained dormant to avoid shooting innocent lives.

"Rei. Your still a rookie. Just follow my lead."
"Just dont flirt with anyone then."
"Now I see why my twin likes you. Some guts there"

The two ships drew closer to the unknown craft.

Mila looks intently on the pillar with its four pods from where Jasmine came from, "They... look familiar...

"Ah! They must be sleeper-pods. The transports where I used to co-pilot in, the Vagabond-series, were part of the Refugee Rescue effort in Holman Outpost. Since it was hard for us to ferry wounded people awake, we used to keep them in these CryoMedical pods until we arrived back at Planet Erie. Yours look kinda different, though... More kinda for long-distance travel.

"I remember when my brother, Leonardo, used t---"

She abruptly ends her talking without warning...

All of a sudden, her eyes fill up with water to the point that a tear slowly creased down the side of cheek. Her child-like demeanor seemed to have been replaced with sorrow and utter despair as she whimpered to herself, "... L... Leon... ardo..." Her mouth starts to quiver, as if she was on the brink of suddenly bursting into tears.

Her emotion was so intense that she didn't notice at first the faint sounds of roaring engines which slowly increased in intensity. But eventually, Mila awakens from her sadness and looked up, her eyes still filled with tears, "Meep... Whazz... that?"

Jasmine looked around, listening to the sound of engines. She shrugs casually, though she was suddenly tense, and she stood, gently rubbing Mila's shoulder for a moment in comfort. Then she stepped away, snapping her fingers and calling out. "Hex-Cinq! Visual!"
A moment later a holographic screen flickered to life, displaying the two fighters. Jasmine smiled. Simple, simple. No problem. She waved her hand and said, in a calmer voice. "Give me a connection." For a moment, there was no response, then a carrier channel picked up to the two vessels. "Well then, mes amis! It seems you arrived late." she lowered her voice so that Mila could not hear. "Tell me, do you know this girl? She seems rather distraught."
All the while, scans were being run of the two fighters. x-ray, thermal imagery, energy and signal output- the whole mess. She worked through the data with eyes of a master, slightly worried that they would be hostile, or at least, not too friendly.

Rei took a moment to respond, her hand not quite near the button that would bring her four Drake Ds and two Improved Debillitators online. She expected to detect the two EXCALIBURs, two WILDFIRES, and two Improved Debs on the RT to burst to life.
Instead, the pilot of the sleek,RT responded.

"First off, Who are you? Second, no, we don't. We detected the distress signal while flying by."

Rei waited, ready to activate her Drakes if the Midnight Roar needed help.

Rei took another look. Roar's nuclear mines were preped, as well as the Mini Razor. Rei hit her razor, just to be safe.

Mila could hear small bits of the conversation that her Savior and the two unidentified pilots were having, and by the looks of it the conversation had a very high chance of turning ugly. She could see through the Holographic Viewscreen that scans indicated the weapons of the two ships, particularly their Mini Razors, were getting hot. Should the current ship Mila was in be shieldless, just one shot from those things ought to deal significant damage, if not outright destroy the entire vessel. It didn't look like the opposition were instigated, but they were airing more on the side of caution.

And as far as her experience went (well, more accurately, witnessed) when they dealt with the Hogosha she found them to be a jumpy sort when it came about conversing with foreigners. Kusarians called foreigners-in-general the blanket-term 'gaijin', let alone the Hogosha, who were rumored to be the secret "police" of culture, and would do almost anything to keep pesky outsiders in check... particularly by force.

Would things get out of hand? Not to say it was inevitable, but if Jasmine (or herself, if her Savior should fail in diplomacy) wouldn't be able to think of something quick there ought to be a high probability. Would the ship get decimated should the two pilots show hostile intentions? Well, Mila was still unsure of the capabilities of the ship she was in, but the odds of a single ship winning against two, circumstances seemed to favor defeat pretty well. Should things ever get out of hand, would Mila be able to get out of this one? Still suffering from injury and fatigue, Mila's luck may have just ran out on her. Many thoughts and grim expectations raced through her mind like a hurricane on Planet Pygar.

She walks over to the bed, then slowly sat back down, heaving out a breath as if resigning herself to death. But her eye catches the Plasma Pistol still on the table, and so her spirit lifted a bit. She grabs her prized pistol and appraises it: a box-like thing it was, and somewhat jury-rigged from parts not usually associated with guns, yet was still dependable; it was the only reminder she had left of her brother, all those months ago... could probably be years, depending on how long she was still unconscious in that escape pod.

Several thoughts and memories came from that pistol alone... But most particular was that she remembered something: a promise she had made. She had vowed that she would no longer be a liability, to no longer be a damsel-in-distress, but to finally be someone who would prove useful to those around her. She didn't want to be a failure, no not again. She wanted to be strong, and persevering, for her brother had a greater enemy to face, and she knew he needed all the help he could get. The last thing he needed was for Mila to be his greatest weakness: on the contrary, she wanted him to depend on her for support, to be there should they enter their darkest hour...

... Though she may not have been able to save him, she felt he survived somehow... A man built of stone like her brother would've survived, and if she were to have any chance of reuniting with him, she needed to stay strong, not just for her own sake, but for her brother's as well... "Meep... I... p-promise... that I'll find you, brother..."

Mila inhaled a deep breath, and steeled herself for what was yet to come, whatever it may be...

Jasmine noticed the burst of power from the ship, and coughed. "My name is Jasmine, the Ex-Head of Research et Development for le Legion des Damnes...and you are?"
As she spoke, her hand slid over a holographic screen to the side, flicking through a list in Gallic. She selected one, spinning her hand on the projected dial, turning it up just a little. "Now, I'd prefer to -not- have this turn into a fight, but i guess weapons are a precaution, oui..."
A burst of power radiated from the core of the vessel, a minor chunk of energy on the standards of the generator. It ran through a long cable that snaked towards the hull, and finally, contacted with the outer shell of the ship, electrifying the hull, an effect which manifested itself in arcs of electricity sparking the water's surface, almost undetectably.
"I heard the distress signal as well, oui. I have the pod onboard, and the girl is in adequate medical care for her condition."

The Mini Razors went cold. The girl in the RT spoke.

"I'm Ellie Hunter...mercenary in the emplyment of the Hogosha next to me."
Rei took a breath. "My name is Ikari Rei. Konnichiwa. May I ask what has transpired here to cause a distress signal to be sent?"

From the RT, an energy signature that sems to advanced for a mercenary craft is detected. The two fighters slow to a stop fifty meters away, hoveeing above the water. The Black Dragon seemed to skitter a bit to the side, but the RT hung motionless, a black shadow against the sky.

"Jasmine...nice name. You sound cute." Ellie said. "Le Legion les Damnes? What are Gallic Brigands doing,here...and,why are you the ex-head of R and D?"

Another signature is detected, one that is closly similar to an Artifical Intelligence, is present on the RT. Over the comm, two voices can,be heard; Ellie and a slightly electronic voice that sounsed like...a nine-year old girl.

Jasmine glances back at Mila. "She seems rather distraught, and I have no clue as to why...apart from this 'Leonardo' she talks about.." Her voice lowers as she speaks, trying her best not to excite more emotions from Mila.

During the whole speech, Jasmine continues to work through her data. 'Hunter...' The name appeared several times, but nothing told her anything about this 'Hunter'. She smiles as the compliment is passed. "Do not attempt flattery, I think much too coldly of myself for it." She says as a passing comment. "I'm here because Gallia is hardly a prime place for my experiments. Both physical and virtual. Too small, too fascist."

Ellie sighs. "I wish I had Rika, she's good at this stuff..." Ellie sighs. "Mind if we come aboard and,ask together? I've been in this thing since Los Angeles, and Rei is still getting the hang of her Black Dragon."

The RT edged backwards a bit as she said this, and the Black,Dragon finally hovered motionless.

Jasmine thinks for a moment. "Hmmm...oui. Very well, you may come aboard. Bring weapons if you must."
With that, she sweeps her hand over the hologram, which shatters impressively. The electric field shuts down, the ship lowers to the surface of the water and a ramp slides open in the back, opening the bay to the outside world.
Jasmine walked back to Mila, sitting down next to her. "Do you need anything? I've got some food and drink in the lockers at the back, if you want any. They'll be here soon."
