I like the concept but the story is based off flawed information. Zoners haven't been around since the settlement of Sirius. Freeport 2 was the first Freeport to be founded. It was founded around 650 AS. There is no mention of Zoners before 650 AS, unless my memory has failed.
The information you read off the wiki isn't canon and is pure fiction written and posted by a member of this community.
With that out of the way, I look forward to running into you chaps.
let me see if i am right... you are pirate or slaver id with Freelancer iff, ship probably border and civilian.. you are nomadic, formarly in past you been zoner. and this planet is --puf--imagine? hm.... interesting-liked...Iraq,hm..why not....
Then, in your background it's mentioned that hey had to scrap their liner and use the parts to survive on their planet, which leaves the impression that they had to live a more or less primitive life... But then suddenly mining resources out of asteroid fields in the system and cloning state of the art combat ships?
Also, "Iraq sector"? Yes, Freelancer canon uses name references from "Ancient Earth", but names of countries are never used for sectors. What I suggest is, replacing it with a region name, and use Iraq as system name or something.
Lastly, "Blue Gods" sounds a bit childish, I suggest finding a better substitute for it.
All these said, if you want my honest opinion, to me it's just yet another "We survived Sol, want smex whif nomnoms & raid Taus every 4 hours" group. But still... Good luck.

Spies? Normal sub light engines Journy? 4 landing frigates that drifted with the effect of the jump engines toward a place nearby sirus, where they had to scrap 3 of them to make a living and use the forth to explore the system?
I think I just gave enough reasonable ideas, and that was of 1 minute thinking.

Jump engines on Sol? I'm not sure but I don't believe those were operational back then.
Sub-light speed engines? I don't think a frigate can carry enough fuel to make a trip from Sol system to Sirius sector.
Spies? The most possible idea, but still.... a few spies are not a nation that colonise a system. And if they were spies they lived among the first colonists. Now they are dead and probably have families within the houses of Sirius now.
