Having returned from my hiatus (work and computers allowing), I've slipped back into my 'Tadpole' and taken her out for a few runs. Thankfully, I was able to participate in an ad hoc convoy with a fearless class destoyer as an escort. Was quite an enjoyable run, aside from some technical issues that cropped up along the way. I'm confident we'll have those ironed out. It seems Gallia space is a bit less hospitible than we imagined, however was worth the trip to see it. Didn't like the minefields that much, Safely back at Baffin, the engineers on Shasta kept looking at me then the ship's hull then me again. I'm confident they'll have her patched and ready to go by the time I set out once more.
Speaking with Mal earlier, I would like to have a "Roll Call" initiated so that we can update the TAZ Registry. More on that later.
The convoy recieved many positive comments from those we encountered along the way, about how nice it was to see so many TAZ members out and about today. I was certainly warmed to see this as well. So I'm going to encourage more group activities. Schedules allowing of course!

As to Gallia, my order stands. I'd prefer we stay out. Let's not give Aurelia Silvan a reason to further harass us. I will, however, entertain visitors from the region. Matok over at Freeport 6 informed me of a visit he had with a Maquis ship not long ago.
I want your thoughts on arranging some fighter/bomber training. We've had basically none and we could use it. I know we have neighbors that could help us out as opposition. We could include capital support as part of it.
I've also re-opened discussion on our own paperwork and licensing. (//ID). We definitely have enough to support it, the powers that be have approved it and most of us want it. The issue is equipment. Do we make a pitch to keep Zoner tech or have our own? While we won't have a guard system, I would have Pueblo Bonito treated as one and that all patrols in Baffin be registered in our paperwork.

Stay outta Gallia? Gotcha. I guess I'm gona be pretty cooped up for a while, so i'm gonna set up a pilot for me ship, and send him out to earn me flax. If he passes muster, ya'll might take him on, but it's no skin off my back, I'm still gonna make me some dough. I won't personally be poppin up a flag for now. But I can help with the training for bomber combat at least. i'm fair in a fighter, and know the ropes well so I can help with practice, but I wouldn't call myself qualfied for training in lighter or heavier. As for Gunboat saized Vessels and larger, I could use some trainin or at least decent tips from someone that knows a thing or two. I'm in Baffin if anyone needs me.
I was just excited to learn that there's a small and growing market for our deuterium in the Languedoc system. I mentioned the fact, and before I knew it, we were five strong and headed for Orkney. I take the responsibility.
If it's any consolation, we didn't see anything but other Sirian traders on our journey. Also, when Moira heard about our little jaunt, she informed me in no uncertain terms that "her" Whale was not to be placed in harm's way again, and that I'd lost my bridge priviledges. I've been relegated to the Kentigearna, which will shortly be re-tagged as [TAZ]Reggie's.Rickshaw. (That is if I survive my return to the Veranda... she is still quite miffed about it all...)

As if by some miracle, Eris told us of some stranger near the Spinning Chao Planets. Turns out there was a stranger near them. His ship was struck by a small but strong Ion Storm. No critical injuries were sustained.
As we were making major repairs on his ship, we found it interesting to initiate a chat with this fellow. It seems that he is part of the group known as Colonial Outlaws. A group that *coughs* "borrows" from traders passing through Cortez... then part of the funds get sent to the Colonial Government.
He asked me if they are rooms available for rent on Shasta. I assured him there are but we have to ask permission.

Just a little update Tazmanics. My Zwhale has been officially renamed [TAZ]Tadpole. And while I realize the dangers in such a change, that's what I've always called her, so I guess it's official. It is always encouraging to see new recruits, let us make sure they feel welcome.
Doc, combat training? Interesting. We never have been really huge on internal military, having contracts with certain individuals. An intriguing thought. Of course, Fyre will LOVE the idea.
That was one fine convoy Reggie. Don't care what anyone says. I enjoyed the flight.

Just over a week ago, we had a line of storms move through where I live. They were pretty violent. If it wasn't bad enough that someone in my house didn't have common sense enough to log off and shut things down, lightning struck near the house. Both my son's computer and mine were knocked out as was my router and DSL modem. Much of the town got hammered as well. I couldn't even log into my computer at work. I am writing this from the town library.
We are recovering. Both machines are now fixed, mine needing a new north bridge and my son's needing a re-format. The router is working again as well but the important part, my DSL modem, is out. So, I await my provider to send another. Of course, I'll need to re-load Freelancer and all it's components.
There is a bit of good in this. My machine is running like new again with a fresh re-format and such. Also, a couple of people in my house are a bit wiser now about what lightning can do to a machine, that and I went ballistic on them for it.
Trust me when I say that I haven't had much fun dealing with all of this.
I'm sure you can hold the fort down until I get back.
