Backstory: The DRN is a fleet of bretonian military officials who have taken their equipment to guard a particular Royal Liner carrying a new branch of aristocracy: the Damorean Royal Family. The Royal Guard will defend their highnesses with their lives, as they make political trips across Sirius.
NPC Faction/ID: BMM (Bretonian Mining and Manufacturing [i know sometimes it says metals or minerals but manufacturing is what the rep card says])
Backstory: When the Damorean Ascendancy arrived, they quickly saw the need for new sources of income, the Capital Endeavour Legion saw that keeping resourcing close to the area of royal operations would be most beneficial, and so began using the assets of BMM corporation to engage in resource gathering and trading operations from the safety of the bretonian Empire.
Backstory: The ravenous pirates of the black plunder legion fleets, arrived with the rest of the Damorean Imperial Covenant. Since the other legions had quickly integrated themselves into pre-exisitng factions and corporations, the Black Plunder Legionmaster saw that it would be difficult to differentiate between who was serving the DIC and who was not. They thus decided to establish themselves with a pirate organization far away from the other fleets, outcasts in the northern and northeastern parts of Sirius, so as to avoid contact with the rest of the DIC, while weaking the kusari economic engine driving the pressure on bretonia via the tau systems and enjoying their plunder and spoils as all pirates do. Besides, they know that if they accidentally pop a DIC freighter they'll be hunted to extinction.
-- [DIC-TS] (The Scourge Fleet)
Origin Clan(s): (The Scourge, Apocalypse Legion)
NPC Faction/ID : Pending* (will explain)
Backstory: Originally slaves to scrapyard warlords, the group of pilots and captains which now makes up the scourge, were fed up of their mistreatment, but were unable to free themselves... until the Damorean Imperial Covenant offered them escape from their plight. Securing themselves a position as one of the Fleets of Apocalypse Origin Legion, the Scourge was able to build up a substantial group of resources and personnel needed to make themselves a substantial force. With the support of the other Damorean Fleets, they were able to succeed from their tormentors, and forge a new destiny for themselves alongside the Damorean Imperial Covenant.
1) The Scourge Faction/ID pending status is because the leader of the Clan called "the scourge" has yet to determine which NPC faction best suits his cause, they want to be terrorist like, and fight the junkers, but also have access to capital ships, so we're still working that one out, it'll be updated when a decision is made.
2) People reading this may be wondering "what is this anyway?" -- to answer your question, this is the explanation for the RP that the Damorean Imperial Covenant is involving itself in on this server. So i will make this into a bit of an FAQ about the DIC:
Why are you involving in more than one faction?
Plain and simple, the Damorean Imperial Covenant is an empire whose member-fleets are entire clans, and with 60+ members at the moment, we cant satisfy everyone with one faction, we have pirates, we have lawfuls, and we have people who want to do nothing more than trade all day (the CMA boys). With so many people from such a diverse background, we cant hope to satisfy everyone with a single faction or roleplay style, and we have the manpower and support to field numerous factions.
Isnt that kind of cheap all working together?
Well, we do appreciate the true spirit of roleplay, and we dont want to upset any balances, this is why our pirate and lawful factions wont intermingle. If they do encounter each other, they will be asked to roleplay as they would for their faction, and maybe involve in a skirmish, but you will certainly not see our traders or lawfuls being backed up by a crack team of pirate fighters, thats just ridiculous. The Common tag is to just show that we come from the same place and put some pride in our work.
So what is the DIC anyway?
The Damorean Imperial Covenant is made up of numerous clans from many gaming platforms that we have encountered: Freelancer, Halo 3, homeworld, command and conquer, battletech, the list goes on. We have found clans that have common interests, and brought them together as fleets and companies in the many legions of the Empire. For example, clans that prefer trading go together in the Capital Endeavour Legion, while plundering pirates work together in the Black Plunder Legion. Each Member clan retains its leader, its internal politics, and can recruit its own members, they dont even have to adjust their style of play.
Anyway, just to let you all know, we'll abide by the rules of your server, we promote fairness and good fun, and all in all we're just here to have a good time in a RP friendly environment (quite a rarity these days), if you have any further questions, i will be checking this thread periodically to answer them, and this is all just to let people know what we're about.
I'd like a little slow down period on this one please, before you flood our server with a large imported faction
idea and member base. You have basically just told us you are here and we have to live with it ...
This is a 'Freelancer' server, with existing factions and diplomacies already in place, and you are expected to
make the effort to fit in with us, not the other way round.

Hence why our existing factions are fitting into pre-existing NPC faction bases, and operating based on what the NPC's do.
The Bretonian Armed Forces tagged players will hunt corsairs, mollies, gaians etc, the BMM players will mine asteroid fields and generate resources, and the Outcast Players will plunder whoever the outcasts like to plunder. We hope to establish good relations with the player factions occupying these niches as well, and support them or fight them based on their relation to the NPC faction a particular fleet is aligned with.
the DIC unified tag system is no more a distruptive unifier than race, creed, or nationality. When it comes to the roleplay, we dont bend the faction affiliation rules.
This is because we all go back to the same place at the end of the day and talk about how awsome it was when billy shot joe out of the sky etc. Its the same reason why friends beat the crap out of each other on FPS games. (as our Chaos6 Halo 3 Fireteam does so often).
As for isolation, if any clans or individual members wish to join us, they're more than welcome to. And this roleplay system is also good training for dividing the legions up for when we eventually deploy to Infinity: Quest for earth, a game you may have heard of which will literally revolutionize the entire space-sim genre. No offense to your community, what you have right here is pure gold, and its pure fun, even if the freelancer game engine is a bit restrictive at times. So far all of the members we've brought on to support their legions in Discovery have heartily enjoyed the mod.
Yes... it worries me and I'm sure many others that you're just going to import your factional diciplines and tags etc... into Discovery just like that. I mean there are alot of complex factional ties that make the RP of the server flow and to dump a substantial force into it under many IDs seems to threaten imbalance.
For one you say there are 60 plus people but you're the only one that has even posted. You also need permission to create factions and also having factions composed entirely of Discovery outsiders seems very... well its offensive to us who waste hours of our lives developing relationships.
Plus I'm sure there will be a few factions feeling someone is stepping on their toes.
The problem with 'attempting' to be in multiple NPC factions is that you'll end up going hostile to most and if not all of the server.
BMM tag? There, makes your -entire- faction (DIC as a whole, not just your sub factions) hostile to Mollys, Gaians, Outcasts, Corsairs. BAF Tagged as well? Hostile to all the their enemies... And Outcast tagged? ... *raises hand* Problem there! Sorry mate, but you have a -lot- of work to do before this faction gets off Manhattan.
The Emperor asked me to speak on behalf of the legions. We have our own discussion boards and so the hassle involved in having everyone register here would be insurmountable, not to mention the convolution in communications it would create.
Which reminds me, if anyone has any complaints or reports to make about incidents involving individual or specific members of the DIC, please voice them here so that they can be put up the chain of command and appropriate disciplinary action can be taken. This includes Rule violations and or general bad attitude.
Edit in response to Dboy's post: As i stated earlier, the each Sub-tag of the DIC is a seperate faction and clan, and if two hostile ones encounter each other, they will act as if a regular BMM/BAF encountered a regular Outcast, piracy would ensue and the stronger force would emerge victorious.
Edit 2: if you want a Freelancer-Style Analagy, Both Corsairs and Outcasts are "Hispanians", even though they fight each other, their origin is the same.
we want you to play here.
we are fine with you joining our factions,
we are fine with you talking about your exploits somewhere else.
its already going on (Darkwing)
but, please.
who are the Damorean Imperial Covenant?
how do they fit with Sirius?
if this is just a YANF-import-a-faction, you have tons of work to do before anyone likes you.
I already dislike you.
get anyone who wants to play disco to take part in our forums.
its where a vast portion of our roleplay goes on.
lots of stuff that seems oorp has massive basis here.
See mariko's snubnose, or Juno's royal liner, or the phantoms, the AW.
certain things...I do not want to be asked ingame.
If all the factions are separate, then they shouldn't all have the DIC tag... Character names are in-character, visible to all other ships in-character. All these factions would be obviously linked to anyone who saw them.
