The cons such as not seeing your enemy's probably very pretty vessel, luck playing a huge factor still in combat and a lack of tension (Blowing chunks out of an enemy right next to you can be pretty intense) appear to outweigh the pro of it simply being long range.
you need to get out of that fighter and try a real ship... have you heard about turret zoom?
also to command this kind of battleship you need much more than just predicting enemy movement you need to measure his speed, range, firing rate, prepare evasive manheuvers, counter measures i think that is pretty mind****ingly intense also projectiles will have somewhat of 3km/s speed so it will not take much to the salvo to reach the target also the battleships will be slow moving weapon fortresses see a gameplay video of battlestations midway to see more or less the gameplay i want to put in here
