Particles actually were broken. Especially the two you brought up. Both guns you mentioned made the other gun of their faction obsolete, as the other gun had no obvious advantage compared to these two, now things are a bit different and each gun has an advantage and a disadvantage, so people can actually pick depending on their flight style.

But as Swallow mentioned, 50ms lower speed isn't that big of a difference... The actual stats we gave them is.
