Well, The Bismarck didn't get killed by swordfish biplanes alone. There were numerous other units, pounding the German battleship while she was without a rudder and running in circles.
In my op, bombers in FL don't actually resemble their namesakes. They have quite good dogfighting abilities and frankly, fighters often have quite a hard time taking one out. Imo, the bomber's anti-fighter arsenal should be nerfed. Perhaps just to turrets (look at the B-17 or Lancaster), all but 1 or 2 firing forward. Others to the sides or rear.
Then, the anti-cap arsenal should be upgraded. 1 more torped o mount would do.
One more thing, that might be nice would be a torpedo, like on Starlancer. Big, powerful, but slow and possible to shoot down. (sigh) The sunslayer could be odified to fulfill ths task and get useful again. Not the ammo-less nova.
Also, the VHFs don't resemble WW2 bombers that much. Might be just me. The Loire-Olivier, Fairley Battle, Junkers 87 and IL 2... They had VERY little dogfighting abilities. Stukas were soaring down in flames one after another during the Battle of Britain. VHFs in FL look more like multirole fighters to me. Good at dogfighting, but just in case needed, they can mount a bomb under the fuselage. While their primary goal is to keep the skies clean.
And here I return to an old (relatively) topic, where it has been suggested, that battleships should be extremely rare and extremely powerful. Extremely rare, by increasing the price multiple times and possibly restricting he access to them. Extremely powerful - make their shields imune to fighter weapons. only specialized anti-cap weaponry would be able to pierce it. Weaponry, like the mentioned "uber" torppedos
