Where did Rhienland get all of the resources and minerals to produce their fleets? They mined out all their resources in 800AS. Think back to the rumours in the original game during the single player. There's a mention to Rhienland's industrial overdrive. I seem to remember an NPC saying "even if they win, they lose." The mod simply forgot to address this problem.
I don't really blame them though. I can see why Igiss wouldn't want to bother working out how a House with a collapsing industrial centre, failing corporations and a decimated military would function. Too complicated I suppose. Even so, it does leave glaring logic holes when lore-purist arguments are raised regarding the matter. It's just the jump from one battleship and mass desertions / pilots holding additional jobs as corporate escorts to a military holding back Liberty with battleships deployed all over their core territory, even behind the front line.
' Wrote:But the geography of Liberty works against itself. It's like a funnel. Texas is the only way into New York, and Rheinland would have two entry points open to them to get in. Reinforcements would have to arrive from New York one at a time. Feasibly, if Rheinland were to blitzkrieg capture Texas, Liberty wouldn't be able to re-take it since only one ship could jump through at a time, which would get obliterated by the garrison.
The SP mission where you enter Rheinland comes to mind, with the dozens of capital ships positioned at every Jump Gate.
If you watch friendly NPC convoys, you'll see three or four ships go through at once. Similarly, hit formation and you'll be dragged through with your target ship. Mobilisation wouldn't take that long considering Freelancer's battleships are quasi-carriers anyway. Battleships and their cruiser escorts could jump through as a combat formation, then disgorge their fighter contingents.
Throw the 'X' amount of PDF flight squadrons stationed on Houston (the Navy would have snub-ship bases all over the planet, I'd wager) and the battleship in orbit, and things would stay relatively tight, security-wise. So I'd think anyway.
