I was born somewhere, wherever it was I know it was cold; space is always cold. My mother? I have no idea, dad never mentioned her. I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't just born of a fling, dad always did love getting drunk in those dirty, smoked filled bars on random stations in-between jobs, he sure was a romantic. Growing up, those bars and the chill of space were the only things I knew, that and the lust for credits.
Since I can remember I was always with my father, he took me everywhere. Maybe not the best parenting in the world, but do you know any ten year old that can manually fly a heavy fighter while his dad takes a leak? I thought not. He took all kinds of jobs, anything from transporting goods and people to escorting transports through the border worlds, I was along for the ride every time. It was the most exciting thing any ten year old can dream of, but the fun had to eventually end.
Fast forward eight years, my father and I decided to take some medium risk job transporting a few Bretonia high-lifers to some luxury liner in the Sigma 19 system. We were almost there, I remember looking out at the surrounding methane clouds when the first shots hit our hull. It all happened so fast, the hull started to buckle we were leaking oxygen. I had just began to put on my oxygen mask when my father suddenly pushed me into the escape pod and ejected me, I guess he wanted to draw them away from me so I could make it.
All I remember is watching out the pod window as the hull of the ship I used to fly as a kid finally buckled and exploded as I drifted away deeper into space. Space is so cold.
I was finally picked up by a passing transport and somehow found my way to Liberty through some odd-jobs here and there using some junk ship I got for dirt cheap. And here we are, two years later. I guess it's finally time to do something with my life, maybe in the Liberty Navy I'll run across the pirates who killed my father, I'll be sure to show them how cold space really is.
