DATE & TIME
Nov 25 - Dec 1
Sieges on Nov 30th & Dec 1st, 8-10PM UTC (9-11PM on Dec 1)
OVERVIEW
The fortress of Heaven’s Gate, more commonly known as “The Arch”, has long been considered a wonder of the Sirius sector. However, only a select few individuals, even of Kusari origin, have ever seen this wonder from behind the armor glass of a vessel’s porthole. No tours are permitted of this high-security installation, and the month-long journey to the Tohoku system discourages all but the most zealous of explorers. Only a single organized group outside of the Kusari security forces can lay claim to having extensive knowledge of the installation – the Blood Dragons.
Ever since the turbulent times of the Nomad war, the Arch has been kept under constant monitoring from the well-positioned Ryukyu Base. While reports from that posting are always of some concern, the Dragons have managed to challenge the KOI in different theaters with adequate effectiveness. With the Arch itself and the nearby dry-dock seemingly focusing on high-risk but largely ineffective R&D, Ryukyu has turned into more of a staging point for joint Dragon-Order operations into Kusari and the Omicrons.
However, the constant vigilance has finally paid off for the Blood Dragons, as a regular passive scan of the Gate’s sector revealed several new energy signatures, ones closely matching those emitted by alien structures previously recorded by the Order. Hastily scrambled patrols confirmed these troubling reports: seeming replicas of Nomad structures were confirmed to be under construction within Ichigaya, powered by set of heavily shielded alien power conduits. With local Order agents immediately contacting their superiors at Fort Carthage, a new joint operation entered into planning stages without delay.
Meanwhile, select officials of Kusari state security have been closely monitoring the technological developments produced by Heaven’s Gate. In a bid to safeguard the latest critical projects, trials of the newly developed Kishiro jump bridge have been recklessly accelerated. Despite substantial losses during the now taboo “R7 Disaster” which “never happened”, a new logistical connection with Hokkaido was eventually stabilized. Assured of a swift way to reinforce the facility, the KOI have moved up the time frame of their latest alien research, secure in the support of the KNF should the ever-present Dragons attempt another foolish raid.
However, instead of a direct assault on the fortress itself, the joint Dragon-Order high command have decided on a more surgical operation. Focusing on the power sources detected by daring patrols, a substantial battle-group has been convened to disrupt the alien research while a decision to move in heavier assets awaits additional intelligence. With the aim of ultimately destroying the conduits, the aptly named Battle-group Ozu has begun an interdiction campaign against Kusari logistics flowing into the Arch. However, the newly mobile joint KOI/KNF patrols possess striking response times, already resulting in heavier than normal losses for the veteran Dragon pilots.
DETAILS
Siege Details:
The three Nomad power conduits between Ichigaya Drydock and Heaven's Gate will be made targetable and destructible for the event. Each of these will have 8 million HP.
These structures will be protected with destructible weapons platforms that pack a punch, but don't have that much HP. More platforms will be added for the Sunday siege, regardless of the number destroyed on Saturday.
Destroying the power conduits will earn contributors an $8mil bonus, split among ships based on damage dealt.
PvE details:
Event IDs will earn points and doubled bonuses for kills of opposing NPCs.
Event NPC battlegroups will periodically patrol Tohoku via pre-determined routes. Surviving ships will be present during the sieges, FPS-permitting.
Each day, the least played faction will have an additional bonus.
Event IDs will earn points and a $200k bonus for kills of opposing factions' players (relevant SRP ids are included in the config).
Each day, the least played faction will have an additional bonus.
Rule Changes:
All Wild IDs in Tohoku are to be treated as KOI IDs, unless flying the Scorpion gunboat.
The respawn timer during sieges will be reduced to 15 minutes for event IDs.
Fair play will be enforced for the duration of the event, and during sieges in particular. Liberal use of the /gs and /fc commands to achieve this is encouraged. Do not be that guy.
Outcomes:
Any sufficiently damaged power conduits will shut down for repairs, affecting the future of Ichigaya Drydock.
Wild involvement in the event will be an opportunity to flavor the KNF&KOI knowledge about and relationship with deep-cover Wild thralls.
Rewards: Custom Title
Requires an INRP write-up about the event from the point of view of your character. Can be submitted as a report within a relevant faction channel, or as part of a story thread.
Exotic Components (x25)
Requires at least 500 NPCs killed. Your score may be combined across allied leaderboards (e.g. Dragons & Order).
Sci-Data (x200)
Requires at least 10 players killed. Your score may be combined across allied leaderboards (e.g. Dragons & Order).
Results
The heavy damage taken by Nodo Mittsu has resulted in an energy overload and a partial meltdown, rendering the module useless for conducting the power emitted by the Drydock. The eventual repair, if one is possible, will take a long time, with existing jury-rigged couplings not allowing for sufficient power to resume construction of the "device".
The Dragons and Order have partially achieved their objectives in Tohoku, though not without heavy cost to the members of Battlegroup Ozu. For now, they will retreat from the area and lick their wounds, while the Arch will continue to remain under close observation.
Based on the above numbers, the following players are eligible for rewards:
bd:Shiraki.Takeshi: 200 Sci Data (10 kills)
Moyasu: 200 Sci Data (10 kills)
Hiroko.Nakagawa: 25 Exotic Components (500 NPCs)
You may now combine scores across ALL of your characters within the same type of leaderboard (PvP or PvE), as per @TheSauron's suggestion.
Please respond in this thread with all of your characters' names and their scores if the combined total makes you eligible for a reward. You may also pm me with this information if you wish to remain anonymous.
