I had my first experience with a NEMP today. I didn't think it was mechanically possible to go 0 from 100 in one hit when you had your shields up. RIP.
I think we've learned a lot from the way this event unfolded. Enough so that I'll likely end up writing a postmortem, since things played out a lot differently than I personally expected after the first few hours of it I was awake for.
Should've made NEMPs damage the bases too, might have deterred them from being used (Yea you can nuke an enemy fleet but at the risk of heavily damaging your base that they're seiging).
I had never seen NEMPs in use before this event either, and the couple that went off when I was present kinda went unnoticed. I heard the alarm and all, but couldnt see any enemy ship in range to actually fire it (everything was at 9+k for enemy contacts), and didnt see any projectile to avoid. That said, I think someone on our side had a shield of some sort that stopped it from killing us? Not sure how that works, this is all new mechanics to me.
Fights were intense and enjoyable. Pretty dayum big, definitely bigger than invasion day or omi minor.
Can't say the same about the event's design though. still, you won't ever find me or my men taking that sort of baloney lying down. Happened before, still here.
