There's a reason it's generally frowned upon when a cap interrupts a perfectly good snubfight and just ruins it. There's a reason other caps stay out of snubfights. One group of people doesn't give a ***** about other peoples' enjoyment, and the other group does. Guess which of the two types of player combat docks, selfnukes, restocks, ganks unnecessarily, etcetera.
It's not difficult to play this game without being awful to everyone around you.

This is still a roleplay server to an arcade space shooter, and I can agree with his point. Mindless pvp is nowhere near as engaging and fun as pvp with a roleplay backdrop. It's sad that people don't simply raid like in the old LivsRhein days in Texas and that you need an event for it, but it brings activity. If I wanted to pvp for the sake of pvp I'd go to conn.
Well thats why I wish they had ships to defend out there, that had to hold to hold the system. You guys sweating over a lost kill is losing sight of the big picture to me. We can still have great pvp and fun without expecting or pressuring players to let themselves lose. As long as no one is returning to battle after dying or docking, a victory is a victory. Since this is a 'war', people putting in every effort to make the most of their chances should be expected. I would be the type to RP that I made a few runs into battle, and survived them! But if you guys had areas to defend, when people escape, its just realistic, and the main point is that you kept your base and defenders safe.
In reply to Lucas, this is not an arcade shooter last time I checked. Wars are ok to speed up the action a bit but all that mindless pvp could be made more worth it with a little creativity. If you want to just launch, fight, die, repeat, there is Star Conflict. Turning this place into an arcade style brawl machine wastes the rp potential to these situations. A war going on and all there is to do is launch into the same small area of the system over and over.
They should each have hidden command ships that are mortal. I'd have players out patrolling for stuff, with earnable special weapons to use, and let this unfold in more ways. Where are the spies? where are the attacks behind the lines? Where are the supply routes to each side so both sides have blockade runners to patrol for? And were's the risk? I guarantee that if they openly declared that the winners take Languedoc if they destroy the other side's battleship bases/command ship, and that supplying your favored side would help repair them (or let civilians use repair ships to help out) people would get working on stuff to use in the battle and fight as hard as they could, even to the death. If you want players sticking it out, its gotta be worth something. Else denying you a kill as as gratifying as you getting one, and I say, good!

Last I checked, Kusari decided to not shoot non-combatants, probably because the last thing Kusari needs is 800 afk transports complaining in feedback about "evil house shoot me when I didn't respond to being told to stop", and some random rule about not being allowed to shoot them would pop up, and be reverted a long time later. There really isn't any in-rp justification for this, except for muh honor, but last time I tried to tell someone about it that way, they got dickhurt about Kusari being honorable when they're the ones invading.
As for almost everything else in the list of improvements would just make the war even more one-sided. Gallia easily has 2-3 times the number of players in any engagement, and the few times I've seen Kusari actually win the fleet battle, it was because they got a bunch of early kills due to people overextending or engaging early. Gallia is preferred by the majority of the community, and there's no way that Kusari can win against that, so might as well let the few pvp gods have their fun collecting blues for their e-peen, and everyone else can play cannon fodder. Isn't that how most combat events go anyway? Why would this specific one, or any one after this be different?
Theres an easy fix - give a trade route only to the side with a lot less players
Alberta event PvP died off soon and became a 5k power trade fest when lawfuls had a trade route in Liberty
Bering event Insurgency got PUMMELLED 5:1 or something first 3-4 days. It would die off quickly, but there it was - a great trade route. The side without numbers had to PvP protect it, or lose it to a single ship.
What happened? Insurgency had people perma-logged and actually caught up for 1:1 KD ratio ( in LIBERTY) and the event went on till the last second. I even paid out like 50 million extra out of pocket on the Insurgency side to people that were logging and protecting the route
The Invasion of Gallia Languedoc and Lorraine
Combat Event
Event review
The event is now concluded. In a bit over a week, there were 540 total deaths logged in the event, which I think makes it one of the most well-attended events in the last couple of years. After consulting the official faction leaders, it was decided not to extend it and focus on other areas that may involve different groups.
Anyone who participated is able to claim the following titles:
Kusarian: Kusari Vanguard Gallic: Gallic Guardian
Anyone who has participated and achieved 4+ kills in the event can instead claim the following titles:
Kusarian: Emperor's Wrath Gallic: Warden of the Fleur
Anyone who has participated and achieved 10+ kills in the event may claim a scientific data engine or contrail in addition to the above.
Anyone who has participated and achieved 15+ kills in the event may claim a scientific data weapon in addition to the above.
UPDATE: You may request one weapon if the scidata cost is 250 or above, or 2 weapons if the scidata cost is below 250.
If you have achieved scores on multiple characters, you may pool the scores together, however proof of ownership/attendance will be requested if ownership is unclear (i.e. if the ship is a shared).
It is expected to have a large number of reward claimants, so we request you to have patience as they will all be processed in due time.
