Lets wait to see what Igiss says about rebalancing BS..
BS are complicated to balance... They already had been balanced from previous version, and made more powerful. But still, they are underpowered.

Id suggest adding the true guns. Look at the buyable battleship loadout and at the battleship stations. You will notice that they look better than the player battleships because the small details like the turrets. Also i notized that the funnie rings of the liberty cruiser should be a flame effect, not trail effect but its not my mod i dont got the right to tell you what to do im just saying what i noticed :P
Oh now i notice it -.- i ment kusari..a kusari destroyer usually has not 3 yellow trails it has a neat subtile glittering behind its engine like all kusari ships (but on the big one its more easy noticable) i bet their not trail effects their flame_effect effects... ;) engine equip.ini i used to mod an year ago i remember some things (but im a n00b modder i just know a small bit)
I have been loking at battleships lately. Why do the bigger the ship gets (more armor and more guns) does the amount of power for firing those guns go down?
I bought a Battlestar, didn't like it, not very Freelancer-ish. I bought a Liberty Dreadnaught, cool looking but I wanted something not seen often in Manhatten and Osiris is way to common. I bought a Britonia battleship, very nicely balanced but, what I really want to fly is a Kusari battleship. I just can't seen to make myself work for another $90 million to try it when the power level is 5,000,000 vs 6,000,000 for the Liberty Dreadnaught and Britonian bs and 6,500,000 for the Osiris.
The rheinland, Kusari and Nomad bs are all three the bigest with more armor, guns and cargo space but have the least amount of power, does that make sense?

Just my thought on a few ideas to help out the battleships. High powered, big guns, uber armour, but very slow turning turrets, if these turrets capability is actually independent from the ship itself, that would also be very nice, since the smaller lasers can be used as point defense weapons against fighters. But frankily the bigger the ship, should be the harder it is too hit a small mobile target. That in itself is balance. A fighter should not be able to take out a battleship, but a bomber should, a battleship should be able to take out a frigate not vice versa.

Essentially, I have always thought of the BShip as a meat shield. (Now, the BS fans are going to kill me.)
I've always thought of it this way because a BS cannot possibly survive by itself. A few well-equipped fighters with decent pilots will easily take one out. It provides cover for smaller ships and is an integral part of a team.
