SUBJECT MATTER: Jobs of Interest
"We been at Barrier's Gate for some time. Thinking about ideas for what jobs are out of there. Other then the bounties currently put up on the board in the bar, we heard some players just came into town. Some freelancer group called the Artemis Alliance. I don't know much about these guys. I will get Crawford to investigate it. Other than that, maybe we can do a bit work the Mollys, The Bounty Hunter Guild... maybe do a bit of Nomad Hunting, our favorite sport.... We might revisit Ontario, Thorne wanted to get a fighter from Thunder Bay Depot. That and pay a visit to the New London system.
When all that is said and done, perhaps we should consider being hired and maybe take on a career from one of the Inter-House and Edge World groups. Tho that may mean, depend on our choices... probably working on establishing a long-term career and a good standing with few of the factions. Until then, it's bar hopping and shooting from here on out."
"I believe everyone has a weird story of their early days as a mercenary to tell. Ours should probably take 2nd or 3rd place on that list maybe... The closest one that had a signifying, early starting point of us mercs was down in Cambridge, in December. We had a whole show of Bretonia Armed Forces and a Corsair raiding party partaking a Skirmish battle. A few capital ships and several gunboats were guarding an area down near where Battleship Norfolk was guarding. For me and my crew, we were just in an Armored Transport with to escape the fight. So, we sat back and enjoyed the show to some degree. According to our old log from then... we had recovered a total of 65 survivors from both sides in overall total. The Corsair fleet fought with bravery and defiance. The survivors were treated fairly from what I can recall. The rest shall we say is history.
Following from that incident a few weeks later, we went on to take a job from Birmingham Station. Took on some Lane Hackers in a Bretonia freighter. Bit odd for Freelancers to take on some unlawful pilots... and profit from it. But taking on unlawful pilots in an Asteroid Miner is VERY challenging. Cuz one, taking on squadrons of say Mollys in a non-military vessel is hard, especially in a large mining ship. And two, if you aren't prepared, you're dead. There's a reason why ships are given Nanobots and Shield rechargers for situations. Situations... either stupid or insane to believe a story like this. If I was a simple average normal person flying a gunboat for a House... I wouldn't understand any of that... But at least in humbling matters, we aren't stupid enough to take on Gunboats with Transports, unless they were retrofitted brutally. After such incidents, we joined the Corsairs and hunted Nomads for a time, before we left it and went back to Freelancing. I will never understand what has let us this far ahead in our careers, maybe by the time I go through this log once again... Perhaps I will be reminded of such early points in our mercenary life...."
