Please don't make a billion threads about the mod bugs, changes you don't like, etc. Many of these issues already have pinned threads for you to post in (these threads will be cleaned for .86). Some don't yet, but those threads will be created within a few days of the release. If you don't see a thread for the issue you want to raise, be patient for a day or two before making one (unless it's already been a week from release), chances are the thread you would post it in will appear.
@Clean Install:
The mod has its own installer, it does not use FLMM anymore.
Using a clean install is incredibly advised. I mean more advised than a President would be.
I say this mostly due to the server's anti-cheat. It won't be nice to you if things are wrong.
De-activating 4.85, restoring backups and then installing 4.86 may work. It may not.
Using a clean install is your best bet.
If you do not have your CD anymore, it is legal in most countries to download a copy of the game as you already own it. You will find a copy floating around the internet if you look for it, even using Google will work.
Alternatively, ask someone on skype to help you out.
@Pre-post 4.86 equipment de-mounting.
Best to do it before 4.86. This ensures you both: A)Don't forget and B)Don't log in while in space with a broken loadout, try to shoot and crash your game

I knew Discovery would become one of those mods eventually.
Sigh.

' Wrote:1. Un-mount your weaponry on your capitals.
This is important. Do it now to save yourself some bother when 4.86 rolls in and mutilates your setup. If your ship ends up with a nasty loadout, the server probably won't like you.
does not work for all ships.
just for example, my order cruiser - cau8 - too less cargospace to unmount more than a few weps
' Wrote:2. Be wary of changing cargo holds.
Perhaps of less importance but relevant. Some cargo holds may have been changed. This could cause some bugs if your ship is full etc.
similar to point 1 - not going to sell my weapons I maybe need after the update lol
' Wrote:3. Clean Freelancer install will be needed.
Almost a given with mods at this point. You will need a brand new, fresh install of Freelancer. This install can later be used by other mods as Discovery will make a copy of the clean one when installing.
that sucks when "someone" got ~3GB grafical modifications:D
' Wrote:4. Get your ships in the right place.
The CR barge is in the Tau's still. The Tau's that will be filled with GRN within hours. You can see the issue there. Don't let it happen to your ships.
done
' Wrote:5. Be prepared for balance changes.
This is something that Marburg has already touched on. You may find your ships/guns are not as good as they use to be. Do not despair. If you feel it isn't a justified change, please make a complaint in a polite and legible way. Remember that people have invested countless hours into getting things right.
Uh, yeah. Experiencing the same issues with the cargo hold and the sizes thereof. I had to sell a few of my gunboat guns so that I can put most of them into my cargo hold which is already mostly occupied by the armor, but that makes my cargo hold full and if the size of my cargo hold changes, my guns get deleted too or...?

Found out I should stress this for battleships. With the new turret hardpoints you can risk that a turret will get stuck on a now not-assigned hardpoint. So it will be mounted, but impossible to unmount cause you won't see in the list when docked.
Sure it can be fixed by some character editing from admins, but that might take a while.
