' Wrote:Hexx, from what I'm reading, you are being unbelievably hypocritical. You tell people they are not allowed to judge your character's roleplay, yet you judge them, and accuse them of abuse.
Apologies if I seemed harsh, but here's the thing. I've brought gameplay, rules, etc into the spotlight. Rule =/= RP. Daedric continually went off about how he thought I should have played my RP setup, while I continually said that it's not what I'm discussing, and it's not his character anyways. It got annoying.
Also, being rude to Zelot doesn't count. Everything's his fault.
In the end, I actually love the prospect of players representing RP and working with other players in this regard, believe it or not. But at the same time, it's a shaky system when there's pretty much free reign given to players for possible abuse. Not to be a major pessimist, but no one's the beacon of morality. Apart from that, like Ashes said, I believe complete, total lockdowns are a little silly and frustrating to certain players' RP.
But hey, we work with what we've got.
On another note, Athenian. Do you mean to say that if an official faction approves red cell tech, it is within rules? Or do they have to approve it, then go through admins? And would this need to also go through the SRP forum? (which is pushing daisies atm)
I actually believe that complete lockdowns are much better then lockdowns with certain exceptions.
You simply don't want to accept the RP consequences that happened. In this case, a Mercenary bunch backstabbed the Corsair empire with their own technology. Thanks to this, there's no more trust for any non Corsairs using Corsair technology.
It's perfectly fine. Also, if I might add, it's a way of fighting the "You gave the permission, now you can't take them away" silly rule.
Believe it or not, before that silly rule was enforced, Corsairs actually issued loads of equipment because they thought they could control the people using them. When the admins said "You can't take the guns away anymore" they simply closed the technology requests.
Best move I've seen from any factions concerning that dumb rule.

I didn't continually go off about how you should role play your character. You provided an example you thought should have received an in role play permission to use Corsair tech, I merely countered your argument stating the that with the provided information you could simply use a Corsair ID. If you got annoyed by it, its because you failed to understand the discussion at hand.
You didn't bring game play and rules into the spot light. You brought one rule into the spot light because you felt two faction leaders were abusing their powers. Noticing that the admins have seen and probably read this thread, I think its fair to say they don't share your view.
AS for what Athenian quoted. No, even if a official player faction approves your permission to use their tech, if your ID is red to their tech you cannot use it. That requires a SRP and SRP's don't exist right now.
What he quoted means that official player factions can conduct diplomacy, over time as the diplomacy evolves it could lead to a red cell becoming white/purple/green. However, all of this has to be approved by the admins (and likely the dev team too). Though, it says that they must get an active SRP prior to the cell being changed.........and the SRP system is gone so I am thinking the admins might ignore that technicality.

Isn't that the definition of Zoner roleplay? Speaking as the oldest remaining Zoner player here... The lore of being a Zoner is an independent individual who does trade with who he wants to, sans the houses except in required situations, and tries his best to keep everyone happy and thus, neutral.
I don't think Zoner lore and roleplay is picking a fight with everyone, but if you know of any infocards to prove me wrong on this matter, I'll gladly shut up.

I wouldn't call AW very Zonerish though. You were quite aggressive, for Zoner standards.
What's up with Mal?

AW were not Zoners.
That's why we had our own ID ya'know. Near the end of AW we started going more Zoner and less Private Army, but then we just let it die rather than change it to keep pace with the transitioning RP environment of Disco at the time.
Irony that people try to keep using AW as evidence that I don't know what the Zoners are about, when I've specifically stated many times over that they were not Zoners. We used the Zoner tag with our own private ID. The rules demanded a tag, and Igiss himself suggested I use the Zoner tag, and gave me the AW ID to deal with issues arising from the use of the Zoner ID.
After that, I went on to be a prominent Zoner player for several years, and helped Mal build up CoZ.

Energizer Bunny, are ya?
You did indeed attempt to counter my argument by telling me what could have been used to better RP my character with the information given. However, I specifically told you multiple times that the information given was only a small portion, and I didn't provide further information because it was besides the topic I was trying to discuss. I told you quite plainly, quite a few times, that you didn't understand the context behind that character, and that I did not want to continue discussing her. But you continued on, and on, and on. So yes, I did understand the discussion at hand, and yes, you annoyed me, as you continue to.
There's nothing left to argue about. Let it be.
You misunderstand the point of this entire exercise. The only reason I came off strongly initially is so that I would draw more attention. I agree that there has been no abuse, but I will also agree that the current system, and actions of some parties, is detrimental to RP of a number of players. When RP comes under fire in any way, you will find that I am quite blunt and outspoken about the matter. The rule (and how some are treating it) is what is affecting RP, and that is, and always was, the point and number one matter in this topic.
If you believe otherwise, that's your opinion. But having created this topic in the first place, I know what my purpose was, regardless if it got confused in the flood. As for the admins, they will never alter a system based on the opinion of one, nor a few players. I conceded my point long ago.
And perhaps that's the case. A shame the SRP forum is under lock and key.
If I might ask, are you someone's alt Daedric? Either that, or seem to think an awful lot of your server understanding after such a short time.

If you understand what that I was merely countering a point that you raised in a discussion, why is it that you are annoyed? That is the purpose of a discussion?
As for your question about me. You've ignorantly assumed that my forum join date is when I first started playing here. A common mistake by many people not just about me but about every community member in general. I'd suggest you don't judge people based on their join date. As if it has anything to do with one's ability to understand something or if their opinion is any less valid.
