Bruce spoke up, "Hold on now, we can't be asking the Hackers for anything. For all we know they could betray us. Anything from revealing our request for their services to forging the files making others implicated. All I'm saying is that they don't have a particularly good track record...at least to their enemies."
The group looked at Bruce waiting for a suggestion, Bruce sighed, "Well...I suppose we have to go with this Greene fellow."
Bruce's comment was unexpected, and raised M'guire's eyebrow quite a bit.
"Ye mean ta go along wi' Greene? 'Im and Grenville? Somethin's no right wi' Greene, I dunno what it is, but he don't seem ta git along wi' others. Ask most o' Brian's boys. I trust Greene as far as I'd throw 'im."
Turning back to Bruce, M'guire continued, "A hacker eh... I might be able ta contact one o' the old inmates o' Newgate, claims ta have gone straight. Dunno if we kin trust 'im though. Other 'an that, I'll arrange a meetin' wi' ma nephew, see what 'e can do. Don't wanna blow 'is cover by 'avin' 'im seen wi' me."
Lookin' round the table, and after a fortifying drink of Earl, he finished his speech, "right, my part is ta see what I can git outta Ri.. Ma nephew, an' see if that hacker bloke is trustworthy. Any other ideas gents?"
"Ok, to sum this up, Duncan, you'll go talk with your nephew, see what he found out and how much closer he could get. Bruce, can you go with Duncan to his Hacker contact, he will make the introduction, then you could follow up on that with the hacker, giving Duncan enough time to contact his nephew, if that is ok with you Bruce?
Joshua, do you have any contacts at MI5? might as well check with them if they have any info on this, can you handle it?
I will try to work things up my end, find the detectives that got to the scene first, talk to the coroner and the detectives that are handling the case, check out who we can trust and maybe get some info off of them about what happend, just in case we won't get that file cracked"
Brian siped a short and nervous sip from his Tea
"Is everyone good with their asignments? We need to make it fast, the longer we wait, the chances this investigation will be noticed rises"
Joshua had been quiet until now, sipping at his tea from time to time.
After summing up the situation, Brian addressed him:
"Joshua, do you have any contacts at MI5? Might as well check with them if they have any info on this, can you handle it?"
Taking another sip, Joshua thought about it... the MI5... now those were some mysterious people.
He put his cup down.
"I think I might know someone who knows someone... though I can't guarantee I'll be able to contact one of them - most likely, they'll get into contact if they wish so. I heard those lads are quite the reclusive ones."
His fellow chief constables - except Bruce, who had already rushed out - gave him a questioning look.
"Alright, I'll just see what I can do and get in touch. Oh, and let me know, should you need me, right?"
"Right, so we will meet here again in 2 days, unless something urgent will rise".
With that, the lads said their goodbyes and headed out, each on his own mission, all wanting to get as much info as possible, as to solve the mystery around the death of their beloved Comiisoner.
The rain pounded New London as it always had, the thunder rolled in the distance, and a paladin touched down outside Christy's. A pair of figures rushed into Christy's.
M'guire nodded to Christy and added gruffly, "Th' usual, an' some 'erbal fur th' boy... Dun ask. Back room ready?"
Wide-eyed and put off balance, all Christy could mumble was a "Yes, I think so."
"Could ye bring 'em in when they're ready? Cheers. Right, Bob, follow me." Well, wasn't that rude. Not like him at all.
In the small room, M'guire found he was the first there.
"Right, Bob, ye got the data?"
Still looking shaken, "Bob" or Robert M'guire answered, "Uh.. Er, yeah. Right 'ere." Handing a small data stick to his uncle, who pulled a small, beaten up, old data reader.
"We'll put it up own this. Right, calm yersel' down. Ye can trust 'ese men, they're giid men, an' we're grateful fur what ye've got."
The tinkle of the door chimes sounded, and both M'guires looked at each other, then the door, just incase.
It was fierce battle with the corsairs, but the Bretonians managed to prevail.
Brian fought along his brethren, from BPA and BAF, brilliant cooperation, that was now threaten to shatter by Grenville's decree.
As the battle was over, Brian was contacted by Duncan M'guire over an encrypted secure line, telling him he is on his way to pick him cousin and then to meet us all at Christy's.
Brian then fired up his engines and headed towards New London, he had to pick up the coroner and take him to the meeting, and he had to do it all discreetly.
Brian's Paladin touched ground in a secluded area close to the morgue, he then dressed up in civilian clothing and headed towards the back entrance to the morgue, he found Dr. Johnathan Blunt waiting for him there.
The two then proceeded back to Brian's Paladin, trying to stay hidden, or at least unnoticed.
The engines of the Paladin roared as they took off and headed towards Christy's.
After a short flight they arrived at Christy's, where they were the meeting was due to be held.
As they entered, Brian noticed that the place was almost empty, something that was pretty unusual as all the police constables used to hang around there, sometimes even when they were supposed to be on duty.
Brian quickly brushed the thought as Christy pointed out to him that the fellas' are waiting for him at the back, the gents quickly moved towards the back room door and entered the small and secluded room.
"Hello there M'guire, well, M'guires" Brian moved up to the table and shook Duncan's hand, then Roberts'
"Nice to meet you finally son, I hope you've got some info to help us here"
a small cough was heard behind Brian's back. He then recalled he didn't introduce Johnthan
"Oh, sorry my boy, how rude of me. This is Dr. Johnathan Blunt, he was the coroner in charge of the autopsy of Abigail's body, he has some realy important info to share with us"
The gents then set down and waited for the rest of the participants to arrive.
