one of the reasons im a Marine i can simply say" your not in my chain of command, sir" the [LN] arnt either but if needed (as i said before)i organize them(again rarly)

I find myself feeling less vulnerable in a fighter than a battleship. You tend to get ignored somewhat more, as people like to shoot the big targets first.
Battleships are a large target, and you can't lead anything once you're dead. It's a purely practical choice.
I figure that an indy that gives himself/herself a military rank, it's akin to an armchair quarterback pretending that he made the team by watching the big game on TV.
Any rank pulled out of thin air is really just a title & not an actual rank.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
& for the record, I've never understood why so many people think that high ranking officers should fly big ships...IMHO, Joe has the right idea: no need for the big fish to waltz around with a big bullseye painted on the middle of their chest just to feel superior to those around them by flying in the biggest, baddest craft.
I believe Satan said it best: "Never let 'em see you coming"

B: i happen to be with people that have no idea what they are doing" or C.(and i can get away with it sometimes)when my battlecruiser is the Tactically Superior Vessel(rare occurence).
now jims a marine but a naval custom and doctrine (that ships worth more so its flag unless he is an FNG or non ranking officer) is cannon roleplay in my eyes {LN} tagged ships or not and as i said (as have others)if you build respect(like i have with jimmy) you can get way with alotta of things (if your smart and senseable about em) so yeah i encourrage self made titles just not the abusive ones todate ,ive never been asked to stop shouting orders nor have i been harrassed when i gave them you can even ask several [LN].
but like i said(and im bolding it) you need to build up your character first ,THEN take your role!
Glad to hear you bumped Jim up. Always thought it was strange to see a 1st Lieutenant (LN equivalent: Sublieutenant) commanding a Battlecruiser.
But yeah, I Jimmy's bolded words said it right.

I don't expect anyone to listen, anyway I think that if you play your role correctly and remain a respected indie there is not problem with titles unless you go crazy and give yourself a Admiral or Grand Admiral rank. It's not just Indies either I've seen some Faction members with crazy ranks and such.
Exactly, you did it 100% propper. You got freinds to be subordinate THEN claimed flag rank.
Of course the irony is despite your rank, according to [LN] their newest recruit outranks you.
That said I cant blame them TOO much after some of the indies Ive seen latley ......

i stil lthink its best (rp wise and funwise)just act as the indies are a seprate fleet trhen the LN insted of powergameing //or is it metagameing that a naval recruit outranks a naval admrial just do what i do
"im not under your jurisdiction so therefore your orders are voided unless critically important, sir"

Technically, thats incorrect. The only rank that can truely order any independent regardless of the situation is the Leader / Vice Leader of the official faction. Anything else, its entirely up to the person being ordered (given the situation, as in some cases canon RP would force you to do it anyways).
That said, those independents who are recognized by the official faction under the rank their character is are generally given command equivalent to the same rank under that offical faction's roster.
(Example, my LSF, Krusa Corraine, is recognized by the =LSF= as a Director. Even though I don't necessarily order people around, that would in effect allow me to give orders to Agents, being lower-ranked.)
Lastly, to the Titanic References and the Iceberg image Mudd posted. Everyone knows that the iceberg engaged without notice. In addition, it was significantly larger than the liner. Essentially making it a Cruiser or Battleship classed object.
that is alo true but i rather rp my way out of situations like that i try to keep things cannon somebodys a commander therea commander, they a admrial there an admrial i order one take orders from the other
