I don't see why you think so. Look at a naval formation in any modern navy. Carriers are always escorted by a wide variety of smaller ships, usually including battlecruisers, heavy & light cruisers, destroyers, gunships, patrol ships, etc.
Having two anti-cap cruisers escorting a carrier who uses fighters (meaning, anti-gunship and anti-fighter), rounds out a fleet so it can effectively combat any fleet formation that comes against it.
And I'm trying to avoid using bomber NPCs wherever possibly, they are problematic.
Give them Novas instead of snacs with 5 shots ammo or so.
It's not the no energy limit, it's just that they are hard to balance in respect to other NPCs and not to give them too much firepower and armor. It's just a lot more work. Plus I have to make custom NPC-only versions of fighter weapons that can be fit into bomber gun slots.
I only do that when necessary, like for the FA NPCs, who use Mamorus escorted by civilian class ships, as they have no fighter of their own. (And I'm trying to avoid doing tech sharing between NPCs, which is why FA don't use Hogosha Black Dragons, and Bundschuh don't use Hessians ships.)
Just thought of something. Given the importance of Blood Diamonds shipping for many Rheinland factions, it's kinda weird to see them missing from the list. By many factions i mean Hessians, LWB, Unioners and Rogues at the very least. Junkers too, perhaps.
I guess some BWTs/Ragnars/Behemoths/PTs/PTrs with BDs could fly around a bit, from O-47 to Dresden, or from Dresden to, say... er... system with Pacifica, from Pacifica to Dawson base, or all of it, or different combinations.
I'm going to guess that there are two types of cargo for NPCs. Persistent and Dynamic. Dab is listing what you will always find on these NPCs (persistent). The dynamic cargo probably changes, as its name would imply.
Could be wrong, I've no idea, that is just what I think.
