Congrats on not reading the thread. At all. Not even the OP. Ryoken's saying that he's not going to be doing that anymore.

Never said i have never shot pirates. I am saying the Yorktown is now no longer policing Liberty. Infact i have moved it to Texas, and will only enter NY or other systems to help out new players, or dump cargo. If you were in game last 2 hours you would have seen just that.

^Thank you.^ As i said. Yorktown follows no orders to kill pirates from time this topic is posted. Unless an official [LN] in game orders me to assist, and i cannot think up an RP reason not to at time.
If you do not believe me. Just chat with XA and the Joker. Plus the few navy screaming for my help in Texas last 2 hours. Yorktown now supports any, and all ships that kill/harrrass/rob/rape/pillage/burn/eat any transport in Texas that is running blockade. Since after all i cannot fire on them, i will no longer protect them. It was actually some fun RP.
The Yorktown will actually aid certain groups with bots/bats/information on their fight against all who aid rheinland by trading with them.
Only time Yorktown will be firing is in self defence, or against Rheinland warships.
I have police in 3 houses as well... Tough thing is it's REALLY difficult to pewpew transports the way it is now in a Light Fighter.
I can, and do, do it; it's just very difficult.
In regards to navy not hunting pirates... I agree wholeheartedly. Then again, navy patrols do just that, patrol. Stumbling upon pirates can't really be ignored, though I think part of it should probably fall on the pirates to run the hell away when they come across navy ships.
Ah well, such is the lonely life of a police character.

This. Police is an intelligence agency, not build to fight big forces of battleships, cruisers and gunboats. Mostly handles the civil matters like escort traders, check cargo and such. If a raid/war is going on - that is navy business.

I use Screamer mines. 3 will knock out the shields, then straff away and repeat. Also target turrets and thruster when possible.
Police can also use bombers/GB's, and cruisers also.
As much as it pains me to say it, being a Deputy Chief in the LPI and all.
You don't see Police Officers catching Smugglers in the Caribbean, or fighting the Pirates in Somalia.
You see Naval and Coast Guard vessels doing that.
As far as FL works, it'd be cool if only the Navy, or only the Police hunted pirates, but they can't, it can't work that way.
It'd make no sense to say, take the ability to hunt pirates off a military ID, as pirates are a bit more than your 'common' criminal, they're a threat to national security. (Look at Soma-...Oh wait, RL =/=)
But at the same time, if the Police factions can't hunt pirates, they'd have -nothing- to do in game, I mean let's face it, realistically, if we're ever in space in RL like we are in FL, it won't be the Police making sure things are secure, it'll be the military, or some military of some kind.
Ideally, and this is how I play my [LN] too: The Navy should be primarily focusing on hunting Terrorists, and fighting Wars, as well as border security stuff, with hunting pirates and smugglers as a secondary goal.
The Police should be focused on finding pirates and smugglers primarily.
However, in game, it generally doesn't work this way on one side or another, for one reason or another.
But inRP, in most Houses afaik, the Police have more of a presence on Planets than they do in space, which makes sense and is why you see the Military's of whatever House doing that stuff in Space.

I don't see the LPI intercepting ships in Taus either. I don't understand why you use Somalia as an example which is thousand miles away from US borders.

I don't think you got my point, this isn't about Somalia, or the US, they are just real life parallels.
To note also: It's more than just the US fighting the pirates in Somalia.
