' Wrote:Again with the "independents vs. factions". I can tell the jist of my post did not get to you, since I stated that I do not believe the server being actually split into these two groups, even though some people with their ridiculous campaigns are bent on splitting it this way.
Let me analyse your argument for a bit here: you state that a group called "factions" is unfair towards a group called "independents" (sic!, the irony of your flagrant labelling makes it sound like a faction) by attempting to constrain their RP. You also claim that they have no right to do this for some reason and that the entire server is biased towards this "factions" group.
Now let me point out what you failed to see: I claim it is entirely in RP for anyone to RP any way they like. They can RP the god of hellfire for all I care, but Sirius is a world that we want to be believable. In the real world every decision has a reaction. In this case, every RP story creates some manner of enemies. Just as it is entirely in RP to call yourselves the god of hellfire and burst out in a rampage of destruction in New York despite having a Navy ID and tag, it is completely in RP for faction tagged players to decide to destroy you here and now. If you go to the forums afterwards and cry about this, you are being hypocritical.
Your argument is rendered null and void by the fact that the only real constraint on the server is server rules, which are enforced by admins. You want some examples? 522nd comes to mind. Liberty Navy hanging out at Bornholm. Using your definition of the server they should by all means be banned already, yet they aren't, even though they don't fit your definition of "faction" because they are simply a group of former Liberty navy "independent" (or untagged) players who decided to have a tag in their name. They don't even have official status, so they don't belong to the so-called "inner circle".
I can see the question now: "Wait a second Blodo, could that by any chance mean that the server is not biased towards this malicious group called 'factions'?"
Preposterous... or is it?
I hope the server is not split in half, the way things are going if either of these halves were to exist, one half might just end up leaving. As for your post not getting to me, I read it and understood it. Assume as you wish. Ridiculous campaigns equal people speaking up against faction restrictions in your eyes?
Where have I said that a group called factions are unfair towards a group called independents? I have merely phrased that some of the factions have been unfair and restricting in their RP to independent characters on the server. Twisted. It has been seen and everyone knows at some level it is happening.
No right to do this? I hope they do not have a right to hinder RP. Of course perhaps look down upon RP which is purposely done to PVP-whore (register your ships or get bomber-whored much?), but not restrict RP which does not detrimentally affect the game's of others (automated ships as an example).
Apologies, but Terrorist ID's are handed out by Admins. The actions that you set as an example perfectly depicts PVP-whoring. A sanctionable offence on this server which only requires screenshots and a post in the sanction thread. Amazingly, is does not require faction interference the way some factions have responded to such behaviour.
Whilst the 522nd may not be sanctioned they are subject to immediate destruction by Liberty lawful forces. (They've also role-played why they are there and their members are more than well known in the community.) The 522nd wish this to be the case and have role-played that this be the stance taken. Others have not. As for your inner-circle quotation I have made no direct references or accusations of cronyism.
Ridiculous campaigns = people thinking it is not in RP for factions to enforce their set laws. If you don't like the laws, stand up against them or try to earn their respect in character, or perhaps join their enemies or obscure allies. There is a ton of choices. It might even lead to some very interesting RP, and is far more probable the laws will be loosened up that way rather than the forum whining way. But don't call it restricting RP, because it's not. Just whining at the police in real life won't accomplish much, whining at the police ingame won't do much either. Taking action on the other hand is something else. Look at it from outside the box perspective, and you will realise that.
