Greetings everyone,i have a question i would like to ask the community, i hope someone can shed some light on it.
What is the nickname exactly? Is the nickname the name of the ship or the character?
I see some people use the character names, it may facilitate in roleplay since the guards and security forces should be able to know he name by scan(i think, they should have the ability to do so) but aside from that doesnt make much sence having the Character name as nickname.I rarely know the name of the pilote or its crew, i do know the name of ships, my grandfather is a fisherman, all the boats had names, my mom gave me my name based on his boat. Called Saint Diogo, i didnt get the saint...
Anyway...
I always pick my nickname as a name for my ship, i have notice some people do it as well.
It also depends on a ship you are using in a faction, especially official one.
For any fighter/bomber you are using you may/must use your character name.
transports/freighters usually have own name or using your surname.
gunboats and bigger warships must have own name and special tag to show to which faction it in. LNS means it is Liberty warship, RNS - Gallia, MNS - Outcasts...
For example my SCRA chars fighter/bomber - SCRA|Julia.Dorian and Gunboat - SCRA|CPW-Dragon (CPW- Coalition People Warship)
I think the generally accepted method of naming ships is anything that has just one person in it (fighter, freigher, bomber) is named as the character, and anything that is crewed (transports, gunboats, capitals) has a ship name.
Thank you. Ill have to ask another just to be sure, i was using a GB from the Order, i was part of it, but not connected with the Player faction |Order at all. Is that "Illegal"?
Do we need to be associated to the Official player faction to fly gunboats? Or just stick |Order in the nickname and done?
I would never just stick the |Order in the nickname without contating the right people, just want to known if it is common behavior.

Any restrictions like that will be spelled out in the ID. If the ID itself isn't restricted, then you can fly any of the ships in the "allowed ship" line at the bottom of the ID. Order ID is open-use.

You have to be a member of the player faction to use the player's faction tag. Player faction is subset of NPC faction. NPC faction is governed by ID, player faction is governed by RP. Tags belong to whoever uses them first.
