option 4) remove the barge from the mod - its too damn big, too damn slow, and a pig to fly.
option 5) nerf all commodity buy and sell prices by a factor of ten to cool the economy down
Recently i came up with an idea about jumptrading.
Gonna put this up sorta like Cannon, due to my lazyness.
-Jumpship (Some simple model) with a unique mount for a special jump device
-Special jump device (Only fits on said jumpship)
-Said jump device, when mounted, creates a ringlike structure beneath the ship (Attached to the ship somewhere)
-Any ship you can fit into the ring, you are able to jump.
-Barge jumps become impossible. (If any changes to jumping needs to be done simply alter the ring size and AOE done by the jump device.
-These ships can be built (dunno if this is possible) By adding a module to PoB's. Allowing the station to built the jumpship
-Jumpships will cost huge amounts of time and effort, naturally in the shape of large amounts of commodities.
-Unique jump drives will also cost large amounts of materials and special commodities.
-Jump ships will not have any weapon mounts. This ensuring people who go without escort will (most likely) regret doing so.
-This (in my opinion) Ensures only groups with the resources and manpower is able to construct them. Oh and a lvl four base is a must.
PS: Make cerberus pew two projectiles. Looks kinda silly.
PPS: All of your ideas are bad. There's no good point in removing barge jumping other than the usuall ''Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q We can't jump and thats why no one else should jump either'' group of people, which i'm sure you have encountered. Breaking down alot of the Q_Q threads on forums and its basically just people whining over things they themselves can't do.

What the hell is the point of adding all these goodies to the mod if they're just going to be nerfed to be unusable? Jumptrading was fine how it was. It brought activity to the server. Yea, people were making ~200mill in an hour, but you know what they did with that money? They used it to play the game. Everybody cries nerf when people make more money than they do, but who in gods name cares? Let them jump a Barge to make a few hundred million so they can go buy a ship and have fun rather than tradegrind for hours on end.

The same thing that's been said on this server since 4.84. Trading's just gradually being made slower and slower, and normalized.

Except trade profits per hour have consistently been raised dramatically in each successive mod version. But hey, we've all got to have baseless complaints about something, right?

Funny, I was raking in some 30-40million in a prison liner in 4.84 every 15-20 minutes or so.
Now it takes about 40 minutes in a 4300 cargo ship.
But hey, it's not like I have personal experience or anything.
Routes are longer, systems are bigger. Sure, you might make a bigger profit, but it's about three times longer the trips that, say, 4.84 would have. Time is money and you're putting in WAY more time than the money you are getting. Thus jumptrading.
EDIT: For the fact that I have a poor memory though, I'll go through every trade route I ran in 4.84, and see if I can't come up with the same profit speeds as before.
we needed nearly 1 year getting a barge rented and using this fat ladie for supplying a base producing goods. therefore we used a jumpship and this barge. thats it. it often doesnt work - you often get lost - or stuck in asteroid fields - like the former owner said "jumping with barge sucks". BUT I LOVE THIS SHIP.
well - we see the Problem of jumping barges when filled with ore - many playerbases are nearby or directly in mining Areas - so its easy pumping ore in this fat ladie - 1 jump to gallia - selling - total win 495.000.000 credits.
But thats not the problem of the barge - its the problem of ORE.
Here some ideas to deal this problem:
- In reality you need a lot of ore to produce gold. so you need more cargo to transport ore. means ore cargo size per unit = 2
- the barge is a huge ship - very slow and so on - even a totally new developed JD is not able to set exact coordinates for a barge jump. best range is 40 k (using freighters instead is often faster than the jump with a barge in mid range distances)
- barges cant transport ore / uncut diamonds etc. cause this stuff is too expensive - noone would put such a large ammount on such a bad armored and low weapon equipped ship (like base wont accept goods)
- barges cant be jumped by a jumpship - they need their own JD - low fuel consumption - but 20 minutes charging time
All these ideas will keep the barge alive in the game - shame if it only can be used as container unable to move

sorry sire makes no sense at all: you only will get new jump starting places like Dortmund, LD14, some places in Okinawa etc. 1 or 2 freighters move into base get fuel and throw it into space - rest is tractoring
Getting a littlebit anoyed.. as i made my money with 5k transports. And i know for a FACT i can earn with someone else 2x as much as with the time you can jump a Barge. Considering you need to make. Coords, survey ship (module), jumpdrive module and on most profitable way ores. SO.. considering i can fill a 5k transport in less then 5 min. (when good droprate) a barge is 45 min to - 1 hour. ONLY MINING.(ORES not plain helium on penn its even faster) And its real. I did mine some barges or bases full with over 40k worth of ore in that amount of time. But if i need to fill a barge first.. (beeing with 2 people whole the time) it would only slow me down in making money per minute. As ok i can mine on 1 straight point. But due to that long time on 1 point i have much more chance beeing pirated. Also when filling a barge in a field the field gets depleted. With 5k transports you just fly to another field where you and your buddy have a shared miner parked at and log that one.. F1 1 transport and fill it up 2 times. and miner relogs his transport and off you go. 50 mill earned in 5 min.. and you are heading to sellpoint A. from there you seek the next nearest one.. And you sell that.
can make a very long story about it but i won't do that.. i think i have made my point clear.
