There's no such thing as secrecy inside a bar... unless of course, one turns lies into truth.
A waitress brought Sentry a glass of "Council Cognac", while he responded to Nighthawk, smiling: Just having a drink...
He slowly sipped from his drink, then placed it on the corner of the table and started listening to the song played by "The Crayterians" - quite the old music, but never old enough not to love it.
"This is in limited supply, enjoy what you can!"Said the bartender, cleaning the flasks and glasses.
After exchanging a few words with a fellow Warrant Officer, he strutted back to his seat as the band began to play. Visions of his future rushed through his head before they were kicked out by his life before now. Emotion overwhelmed him but he kept it in, gulping the ale in great amounts as if it were a painkiller.
It was good to not be alone though. He raised his glass to his mouth once more and enjoyed the plethora of instruments that rung deep into everyone.
Aeyrn hadn't bothered turning around upon hearing the unfamiliar voice behind her. A small smile crossed her lips as she kept her gaze fixated on the bartender as he went about pouring the drinks that Frost had bought. "Wasn't expecting a gentleman to buy my first drink." She replied, now turning herself around to view the man that had struck up a conversation with her.
Her eyes shifted past the man watching a couple of more people filling the bar, thought at the moment none of them had struck interesting to her, so her eyes turned back towards the man, another smile flashing across her lips. "I suppose that makes you the only one worth interacting with at the moment." She cooed, turning herself back around on the bar stool and picking up the drink that was placed in front of her.
He chuckled as he drank some of his ale , looking at Sentry.
'I somehow doubt you're only here for the Drinks. Try being less obvious about your ways of checking up on us."
Nighthawk then turned to enjoy the music the band was playing, first was the tribute for those left behind and everything fell silent while it did play. The thing that was annoying him was Sentry trying to play Dad and watching over their every damn move.
Sierra shrugged, but before he could answer, the music began to play. He took a sip from his Old Crayter Ale, and simply enjoyed the melodic sounds emanating from the band. Each note brought back memories of Crayter, and out of respect, he waited for the first song to end before speaking.
As the concert died down, people resumed to their activities and drinks. Lou walked around, thanked the band for their performance and offered them drinks on the house. While he was near the stage, a familiar voice called out. "Hey Lou! Sing us a song!" Cried David. "Yeah!" Shouted others. "Sing us a song about the 15th!"
Lou looked around, and sighed. *Oh god* he thought and chuckled to himself. "Yeah, don't you have a name for the 15th Lou?" said David.
Hearing Lou sing was too much for David to hold in. He joined in the rancorous laughter of other patrons, wiping a small tear from his eye.
Meanwhile, Sierra stifled his own laughter, knowing Sentry would probably chastise him for it. Instead, he decided to try and continue having a conversation with Nighthawk.
"So who do you think'll hold back Frost when everyone's done laughing?"
Slightly surprised, but definetely in a positive way, Elaine noticed how the Maestro himself, good old Lou, came in sight.
"Hey Lou, so I see your plan's working. As always I guess! I'd ask you to sit down a bit and actually enjoy some of the stuff you're offering here, but I'm sure you're busy organising the whole thing and all that"Looking at the barkeeper as he prepared the Ale, Elaine laughed"I'll believe you today. Though, don't let the spooks find out about your reserves. They might think you stole it from somewhere in the end!"
Shortly after the quite busy Lou left her again the man behind the counter placed a glass with the ordered drink in it right in front of Elaine. Slowly, trying to enjoy every single bit of this rare Ale, the fluid in the glass dissapeared over the following minutes, until the band has its first appearence.
For a moment she wondered if it was their idea, one of Lou's weird decisions or a program point introduced by the government or somebody else, but Elaine could not help but think that it is not the best move to introduce an event like a bar opening with something like a moment of silence for those who could not be here due to whatever made them being left behind. However, quickly she remembered what they all went through. She as an individual just like her whole people. And if not with a good drink, how else could one sufficiently honour those who had to leave this world a bit earlier than expected...
The song played by 'The Crayterians' was not finished long ago when Elaine noisefully cought and raised from her barstool, holding her glass in one hand and gesturing with the other.
"Lads, gents, listen up for a second, would you please? I guess you all can agree to me that everyone here had to leave beloved ones behind. No matter if you came with us for Crayter or if you came from somewhere else. The origin of every single one of you doesn't matter at the end of the day. It's the destination of the path we all are walking on that counts. And that's why we should not moan or cry about those who can't raise their glasses with us today, but rather whish them good look with whatever they're doing nowadays, in hope they will return this gesture. Listen.Elaine coughed once more, before she continued speaking
"A distant and familiar sadness calls to us
As if carried on the wind, like burning sand
Brothers and sisters, away, you endure
Stranded on our own land
A memory etched into soul and skin
Leaves a scar that never heals
Our family is strong, but scattered
Across the stars and fields
We will not abandon you
We will not forget you
We will return for you.
And that's pretty much it. By going on, we will return to what we always searched for. And now, going on means having a nice evening and some drinks! Means grab what you want, I'll pay a round for you all!"
With a big grin, Elaine sat down again, and observed Lou, as he entered the stage not long after she finished talking.
"What...."
Squished bigly ~Champ- Thanks, you're a champ. "What's the word for when it feels inside your heart that everything in the world is all right?"
After Listening to Lou and finishing his subtle laughing, he turned to Sierra.
I'd bet 20 Credits it'll end up being us."
He grinned a bit as he completely ignored Sentry's presence, he didn't care much about him either, he was just a bother now and Nighthawk couldn't be more annoyed by a single person right now. He continued his conversation with Sierra.
Bewildered was the word to describe Lou's singing. Laz felt like a piece of him had just died inside. However, the cockiness to say it was not present at this time and therefore he just sat there...comtemplating. He felt like he was waiting for something, someone maybe. Who knows.
"IMD please...no drugs"Laz said to the bartender as he approached. The bartender stifled a laugh
"I see what you did there...I must say I do agree"He replies, pooring a strangely coloured mixture that unfortunately looked appealing.
"Welp, this'll help me" Thought Laz, walking back to his seat...grinning at Lou as he passed.
