Christy's was the kind of institution where you knew what you were getting once you stepped in. One of the more expensive and luxurious BPA sanctioned eateries that existed on the bottom two floors of The Hub, Christy's was gourmet. The minute you walk in, the rich aroma of several blends of tea and the delicious, buttery smell of scones, cupcakes, and biscuits overwhelm you.
Christy's is not just a tea shoppe, it is a temple of relaxation.
It is not particularly big. Christy's shop has a large window facing the courtyard, with a small ledge and several high stools next to them. Across from the ledge-table, the cashier and Christy - in the flesh - served warm treats and drinks. If you walk past the counter, there is a small niche within, typically occupied by Bretonia Police Constables.
The little bell above the door rang when Joshua entered the shop.
Sir Lauderdale really didn't promise too much, this place is exclusive... Joshua thought.
"Welcome, what can I do for..."
The lady behind the counter, probably Christy herself, stopped when Joshua pulled back the hood of his deep blue trench coat, still soaking wet from the strong rain outside.
"Oh, you are from the BPA, one of the new constables, right?"
"Sergeant, to be accurate, my lady. I guess I owe you an introduction. Joshua Cooper, at your service."
"Oh my, Alan sure has a way with recruiting... seems like he got a true gentleman there. I am Christy, but it seems as you guessed that already. And you are a Sergeant? How come you never visited my house before?"
"To be honest, I didn't have the time... the workload for new recruits is quite heavy and after my promotion... well, it even got more. Anyways, I actually got some free time right now and, erm, I'd like to buy a little present for someone I know."
"Lovely! Is the presentee a female by any chance?"
How come all the girls and ladies are always looking straight through me...
"Erm, yes, yes, it's a nice girl I know..."
"Aah, well, in that case, might I recommend you some of our chocolate moist cupcakes? I could as well..."
Right then, Joshua heard the bell ringing behind him...
As the bell rang and I walked in, I saw Sargeant Cooper, I looked around...I saw...heaven. Everyone turned and saw me and cheered. Those UoG never found the spy on board their beloved Patriot and he got me out.
"Greetings Mr. Cooper!" I nodded to him and looked at the ordering area. I muttered, "Ah...I have missed you my friends" as I looked at the tea and biscuits being served. Everyone was crowding around me but I cared not, I threw off my dirty rain soaked jacket and ordered five biscuits and three cups of tea. The woman at the counter said, "Who are you? Never seen you around here before" I laughed and said, "Damned Mollies, how could I miss this place, this heaven on earth?"
"Sir?"
"Oh sorry m'lady, Captain Bruce Scott at your service, could I have three blueberry two chocolate and the tea will be Earl Grey please, one scoop."
"Of course Mr. Scott coming right up, why don't you go take a seat."
She was obiously flattered to be talking to the second in command of the BPA, I turned and saw Superintendatn Lauderdale. I saw next to him.
"Welcome back Scott!" Cheers rose to the roof at these words and my biscuits and tea arrived. I dug in and devoured it all in minute.
"This is even better than the BCS!" Laughs came from all around and someone shouted, "We know!"
I turned to Sir Lauderdale and saw a huge mound of paperwork. I uttered and expletive under my breath. He pushed the paperwork at me.
The bell rang as Captain Scott entered with a bundle of paperwork. The place was empty, Scott ordered his usual and sat down with the paperwork. Soon the woman at the desk walked over to him and said, "You're the first officer I have seen here in days...what happened?"
"I don't know, a bit strange considering your excellent tea and biscuits." Even he was puzzeled...the woman blushed a bit, obiously embarrased that her food and beverages were considered "excellent' by the BPA's second in command.
"You are Christy correct?" Scott asked. She nodded and said,
"Enjoy, and thank you." She walked off and scott turned to the mound of paper work, he hit his head on the glass table after seeing all that he had to do...a bit to hard, for the glass table cracked and shatterded. Chirsty shouted, "You..you're a Kusarian spy! That's Kusarian martial arts right there!" This happened as a BPA officer entered and Scott swore...
Lord, I am still tired as hell...
The ringing bell and the following noise took Joshua back to reality. He had made his way to Christy's before beginning today's work.
As he came in, he found Captain Scott with a little bruise on the forehead, sitting in front of what seemed to be the rest of a glass table. To his left and right, papers and holo-disks were scattered on the floor, and Christy was clearly enraged.
"Erm... morning, Christy. And good morning Captain Scott! What happened here?"
Captain Scott seemed more startled about the fact that Joshua spoke to him than about the mess surrounding him.
"Ah, Sergeant Cooper! Excellent timing!" Scott rubbed his hand against his forehead, picked the holo-disks and papers from the floor, stood up and came over to Joshua.
"Oh, you have some serious bags under your eyes... anyways, I'll be right back! Would you clean that mess here for me? Thank you, very glad you'll do it! Erm, goodbye Christy!"
Before Joshua could say a word, Captain Scott had rushed outside.
"Now, will you clean it up already? I have customers to attend! Here you go."
Christy handed Joshua a broom and a bucket for the shards and went back to the counter.
Somehow, this day really isn't starting the way I wanted it to... Joshua thought.
As constable McNab and Sir Alan entered Christy's, the air was a bit tense.
Brian didn't know what he is gonna face in this private "1 on 1" talk with the chief of police.
He knew his methods of questioning were a bit rough, but to be called out of the questioning room...
Sir Alan went to the counter and ordered tea and biscuits for the both of them, then they both sat down at Sir Alan's private booth.
Brian, afraid that he maybe crossed the line this time, spoke the first words:
"What did you want to talk to me about Sir?"
The bell rang and, to the outrage of Christy, Bruce Scott entered. "Captain, or Kusarian spy, whatever you are, you are paying for that table!"
"Of course ma'am." He muttered, "How much?"
"One hundred thousand Credits." Christy replied anger still in her voice. Scott reluctantly payed and got his tea and biscuits then sat a table across from Constable McNab and Superintendant Lauderdale. They began to chuckle while staring at him. "Oh, laughing are you? I don't see either of you with this much paperwork!"
"Don't get captured next time sir, and you won't have this much." McNab said.
Quote:"What did you want to talk to me about Sir?"
Sir Alan Lauderdale pulled over a seat and invited Constable McNab to sit.
"Now, my good man, never before have I ever witnessed such blatant and irresponsible use of force. While you may have the audacity to do something like that, you will most certainly NOT do that in the Queen's Police. We have a reputation to maintain. A reputation of infallibility, justice, and honor," said Sir Alan angrily. "We only reserve torture for known terrorists, and even then, we're discrete. Understand?"
McNab looked slightly taken aback.
"On the other hand, Mr. McNab, good work. It seems to have scared him into saying something," said Sir Alan. The older officer smiled at the Constable. "Come along now, I'll buy you a round of whisky to calm the nerves."

As McNab sipped his whiskey down, he pondered how much from his past he should reveal at this point.
"Sir, I know my methods are a bit "Unorthodox", but they are effective."
"I wasn't gonna torture him, I tried to make it seem that way, so he would talk, and apparently did a pretty good job at it."
With a now worried look, Brian continued.
"You see sir, before joining the BPA, I was part of an undercover unit of the bretonian government, in which I had to conduct interrogations of some pretty heavy enemies of th state..."
Suddenly Brian quited down, staring down as his glass of whiskey.
A minute passed, than Brian spoke again.
"I'm sorry sir, I can't say anymore, I already revealed to much..."
With that, Brian quited down again.
On that note, both officers downed their drinks, and headed back to the conference room.
Inspector Scott walked in carrying a cake. Christy was at the desk watching the various promotion parties when she heard the bell and turned. She saw and stared at it with awe...it had to be the worst looking cake she had ever seen. "Mr. Scott! That won't do!" She grabbed the cake and threw it to the garbage.
"I just spent two hours trying to make that thing and your throw it away?!"
"Sah, I am not letting that atrosity to be brought before someone." Scott grumbled as Christy offered him a beautiful cake. He took it to the largest table where the party was to be held. Rounds of tea and biscuits were being prepared, along with the odd crumpet. Bruce couldn't stand those crumpets...Everyone else gathered around and waited for Captain Vimes to walk in...
