FL Crashes Help !

I have a Lenovo G500s with Windows 7 32 bit OS. have installed Freelancer and Discovery mod on it.The Discovery mod online works fine but,the REAL Freelancer installation without mods crashes on trying to click new game giving this error.

Freelancer without mods has never run properly on this laptop since i purchased it.
Directx is updated to latest version and i did run a End-User Directx Runtime program to fix any missing Directx file errors.
If anyone here can tell me what i need to do please tell me.I like to think iam a bit advanced so don't hesitate to post any complex steps or answers.

This may be a stupid question, but if you delete your saved files, you lose all your assets and systems found? I keep CTD when I get near the Lewis System and FL split says "ERROR: FACTION: save game has corrupted reputation data for group fc_freelancer, please re-create the savegame". How can I recreate a saved game and keep my current assets and discoveries?
