The Roleplay "funeral"

Does everyone else really think that the funeral event made sense?:huh:

I think it was complete non sense from the beginning of the manifestation thing. a great idea, but the wrong people were there for the wrong reason. The same hapenned in the funeral thing it seems.

Ok, I was one of the pirates who was present at the frankly briliant event that happened this afternoon. If you read the RP for the Reapers of Sirius you will see why we HAD to have a representative there.

I journeyed to the funeral with a member of =CR= and conducted myself in a peacable manner, as fitted the rp for the event. Thje weapons on my ship were de-activated for the duration, and STILL someone fired on me.

This kind of event as happened in real life on many an occasion, it happened in South Africa, in Northern Ireland, in Bosnia. People from opposing sides declaring ceasefire in order to pay respect to innocent people who's lives were lost through needless violence.... Hell it happens all too frequently.

This is one of the frew stories that is happening currently in disco that has real and genuine depth. Innocant lives being lost through a failure uin diplomacy, then the funeral being vaguely hijacked for further political means. Personal tragedy within political disaster, brilliant.

Nice one all those who were involved

What I question is, have you asked for us, the people who rp as liberty law enforcement people if we were acting as bad as you people describe?
I feel we have become some sort of martyr in the excuse of "introducing new players to rp"... maybe I'm wrong, but that's pretty much what I felt through reading all the posts and server experience.

Xing, the actions of the SA has led some to brand Liberty as corrupt, however do be aware that there will be events soon, including a possible long term story that will improve the populaces demeanour. But these events need planning and good execution. This has become a story, interacted with by the players, a true RP game. This was but a chapter in the ongoing storyline, and it made the SA seem more understanding when they let the pirates and criminals fly with the cortege. THe LPI's misunderstanding was just another example of their incompetence, no surprise really, and the HF were irreverant buggers who should all be shot.

Whether or not the majority of the Liberty Lawfuls are acting in this manner is irrelevant, they have been branded as such and need to work their way out, new events based on this fact would be preferable to whining about what's happening. It's an RP problem, RP the solution.

I'm an newbie & did not take part in any one of those steps on any side - but as far as i can see: while the whole chain of events may be unlikely, each single event as such was a plausible consequence. The problem (Lawfuls having to tolerate a group of unlawfuls, who aren't on the best terms with each other either) was "built" in game and on forums, but in RP, and should be solved in a like manner.

Wholeheartedly agree with the post above.

Xing, the event had a deeper meaning if you could have thought a bit more about it. Not only that but it has something in it beyond simple gaming environment. It is important to understand that this isn't rail road roleplay as some wish it to be, it's dynamic, living and breathing, much like our lives are. It's wonderful that such events are possible and were done correctly. It is the kind of roleplay I've been fighting for, and I glad I had my input on it, glad I could visualize it in form of short movies. This is the roleplay. So instead of whining and showing here incompetence I'd suggest you to show other people how to roleplay with an example of yourself in the first place. How about that, Xing? Teach them, help them. It is what helps the community, not the kind of replies and attitude you have shown previously. And I will repeat Del on that one: deal with that event in roleplay, build up good reputation of law forces. Don't just think that because they are law forces they are automatically good and holy. Reputation.. it is not given, it is earned, it is made. Earned and kept alive, supported further. As a matter of fact what has original Freelancer campaign shown us? Corruption, treachery going deeper and deeper.

Tree, I know I'm whining. But I can't exactly help. Look at how things are now.
Tell me just one example of what Liberty could do against all that. We are not politicians irl (I don't think anyway). It is easy for the insurgency to pretend all we say is lie - especially when only the liberty lawfuls, think it isn't. Don't think I've not been trying to do some counter-rp on server, I did, the only result was more people joining the Xenos, more people supporting the outcasts - heck, when even he traders turn against you, how can you roleplay out of this?

From what I hear, soon there will be an event that will restrain H-Fuel, meaning my dreadnaught - my only liberty character, will not be allowed to fly for a little while. Frankly, I'm tired of that, because you know what happens on server every time I connected with it?

I counter-rp some Xenos: this is fun, because even if they treat us of corrupt and all, at least they are saying something you can actually counter with. About that, you can see some of the people in system are against Xenos, some are for them, it is actually a FUN interaction even if there's no pvp combat - and in fact, even better without.
-I counter-rp trader, outcast, rogues, dragons, bundschuch, etc (yes, all in NY, all virtually on the same side): this is NOT fun because no one is on your side, they are all against you, you can't counter anything revelant because frankly, they don't bring up anything revelant or even true (for instance, Xenos will say they were put out of job because liberty searched job at cheaper price outside. These people however, only moan "fascism... fascism.... incompetence...")
-I get rapped by a pirate who recruit for a group of bombers to own me. (that I don't really mind, but that's about the routine I get. But this usually follows point 2)

So what, you want me to RP this out: my vision is that Liberty isn't fascist at all, all these are lies. They pretend we are against freedom of speech, I only restrain those who begins spouting messages supporting terrorism and piracy - and hoh, fascism - and hoh, everyone agrees.

What is that? What should I do? In fact, do I have any option?
I did try, it is the only reasons why I'm posting these now.
I'm not a very good capdriver, nor that good at pvp. I usually prefer to avoid them. On server, I always relish on RP first, combat after. I did, and found no solution. I did try to rp it out, many time, it completely failed.
All I'm asking, is for some of you people opposing liberty, back off. I can't believe because some weapon legislation passed, everyone begins spitting on us from everywhere on Sirius. That doesn't make sense.

The thing is, they don't find anything to reply to such things, and continue to moan on a different subject: "fascism... lack of freedom of speech...."
