i suppose jt equipment falls out of the sky, dear lode jesus bestow upon me this magical jd that I totally didn't earn through normal trading.

Lyth, if THAT was indeed your character, and since you're posting in that thread it's obvious, then personally for me it's a solid proof you're being quite unsatisfied with not being able to pirate ore haulers close to sell point for all their cargo on constant basis
Sorry, but I personally (and I guess a good amount of people here) consider such piracy behaviour no less harming to the gameplay than silent powertraders or lolrussianminers. Even more, in fact, because it creates grudges and also makes any attempts to communicate with pirate useless, since you're going to end losing all you have in either way - while latter 2 can be taken as ambient life that can be bothered, or can be left alone by your own choice. You know, it kinda kills the whole amount of "Jumptrading is bad for RolePlay" arguments you've been coming up with here. It's players like you that are forcing traders to evade the encounter with pirate at all costs, be it flying above the plane, monitoring player chat or using jumpdrive.

It's only OORP if you have outcasts jumping synth foods or something.
It's not OORP just because you don't like it.
In fact, if you think something is OORP because you dislike it, that's called being unable to separate RP from your real life feelings.
If you can't manage to do that, this place isn't for you
Pack of hypocritical mongrels you guys are.
Come on, really, man? You know better than that, otherwise you wouldn't be here still. On Disco, I mean. After so many years. Honestly, why is jumptrading okay in your head? You do realize it's EXACTLY the same as silent powertraders, right? The issue is not with the people that do it in roleplay, the issue is with the overwhelming amounts of people doing it for nothing but a quick, safe buck. That's not what this server was designed for. And don't even try to pin the RP/RL difference tail on me, that's just a cornered last ditch effort to discredit me without any proof or logic in the statement whatsoever. Because I consider something to be venomous to the server because it's obviously harming the gameplay since it's abused a great most of the time doesn't mean I'm stating I don't like it- I personally have adhered to the server rules in all my time playing here, and if the jumptraders were doing it the proper way, with actual roleplay and sense, instead of hiding 40k under plain and sneaking their way through to quick money then buying lolcaps to have gudrp with, I would be all for it.
And please, if you wish to argument me, please do so with some amount of logic behind your words. "NO U WRONG" is all I read from your post- Give me proof that HALF of the jumptraders (All I need- Not even most, just half) are rule-abiding members, focused on roleplay throughout the ordeals and actually RPing with pirates (which I've never been, so I've got no bias there), I'll agree with you wholeheartedly and accept my fault.
BTW: I'm not being rude, sarcastic, poisonous or anything of the sort- The point was raised for discussion, not parroting personal preferences- Show me you defend jumptrading for anything else than your own profit and I'll maybe even get over the fact you blatantly insulted me with your own post, which I really do want to do because honestly, I really do like you as a member, and we've RP'd many times, most of which you don't even know because I don't make my characters that public. Peace.

You're right, this server was designed as a PvP environment. As much as it'll be denied, it's never been built around the idea of roleplay, or else balance would be an afterthought, not the focus.

I'm not the server police, nor am I an admin. I jump traded with an Ageira carrier that was, you guessed it, earned through roleplay (Not mine, I must say, that was from Echo 7-7) and I continued to play it as an Ageira craft, even if I never got the SRP on it finished. Am I the majority? Nah.
But people have always done what they could to get a safe credit. Flying above plane, using holes, speed docking, so on. If you really want to be a stickler, using anything but gates and lanes is OORP for corporations, outside of the specific trips to said hole or stations beyond them. If you REALLY want to get into it, we could go on about how transports full of hypervaluable materials would be making more than a couple of million credits, but you know, balance for the sake of 'longevity' in the mod.

There's a problem if you have to say you're not doing any of that.
And then you went again, completely misunderstanding what I said and the points I provided. If you, yourself, like to jumptrade, but like to do so with roleplay in mind, that's fine, I'm all in favour of that. And even though the GAME was meat for PVP, it doesn't mean that the SERVER is based around it. The server, after all, and the mod itself, are focused on RP- Otherwise, we might as well have 'Commodity #1' that buys on Houston for 1000 and sells on Manhattan for 30,000, no? How about mineable 'Commodity #2' that mines 50 units per rock, selling for 50,000 a piece on a base 40k away? Yeah, sounds dumb, right? Exactly.
People that used to powertrade silently usually either got better at RP and were made part of the community or fell off the server for being unable to follow the rules, working themselves into bans for their bad behaviour- Because rules. In the end, it IS a roleplay server, and things should be enforced as such. I don't believe jump drives should be REMOVED- it's by no means a solution other than the absolute last resort, but I do believe they should either be accessible through a request towards the admins or at least changed. Yes, I've changed what I think, because you, and some others have raised valid points- It can be very good RP. But really, doing it just for the quick, safe cash is not valid.
Furthermore, about piracy, since that's also been raised as a subject: I've, in my time, been pirated unfairly more than once. I've been asked up to 30 million credits while carrying a load worth no more than 15 at best- Even though in certain cases this is absolutely an excuse for a blue message, it still happened much more seldom than full scale lolperations with jumping barges, as stated (and I've seen this) surrounded by a complete OORP jumble of random ships, including outcasts, junkers, the odd LN dread and a bunch of indie, unrelated transports happen nowadays. So, really, it should be rethought and rebalanced.
And another little note. I mentioned that I had no ill intent because honestly, I feel the need to. On these forums, lately, there have been few discussions that haven't deteriorated into utter drivel or insult wars, and as much as I believe it's sad that I need to state my actual intentions, I need to do so in order to at least TRY and not be misunderstood and raged at from several directions.
P.S: I meant poisonous, I'm more plant than human at this point

This discussion became quite pointless. I'm pretty sure that devs looked on 13 pages of this thread and realised that problem really exists.
With a small remark that the whole 13 page thing was initiated by someone who actively engaged in lolpiracy to the levels of killing any meaning of interaction during encounters with him. At least with the indie players that do not know him directly.
I might be harsh here, and obviously I'm myself biased towards JDs as the one who benefited from them - but I'd really take all of this with a grain of salt. imho.
