Ok, I'm starting this thread to give a place for opinions, suggestions, venting, bragging, what ever but in reguards to the Harvesters. This is why, I want to have a pulse on the effect of this pseudo faction so, I can try and keep things positive.
The reason I'm concerned with doing that is I wanted a new dynamic to Freelancer that hasn't been done before and yet not imported but constructed useing Freelance elements. I targeted the Zoners, and Outcast as a person because the unlikely combination of enemies would make them wierd and set them apart.
Now I just didn't throw the Zoners in the mix with out asking I spoke with one faction leader among the Zoners and the Outcast have been getting worked in since the begining with Scornstar.
Now I exspect that threads like this will attract more angry people to comment than praise but, that kind of what I'm looking for in that I will hear the complaints and factor it in to faction plans, or appologize if need be. If one of my folks messes up bad enough that you want to report then please come here and report let me handle it. I will want pictures of course. But instead of admin fineing some one and the money just disappearing if you got strong evidence then let me fine them and you get the money.
This is where I'd like the dirty laundry washed to keep reduce the amount of admin work by peer policeing. IE: I'll take care of my faction. I hope there not much to report here but the embarassment would be a factor here that you wouldn't get from an admin sanction.
If the we cannot come to an agreement then of course report it to the admins but, this will give everyone a window into Harvester management. Now all negative comments should be specific and have some tangible fact or instance attached. Comments like "You Suck, go away" won't help anyone.
So please be mature and if your in a faction and have a grievence then please have you faction head speak for you, as they will likely be more objective and less emotional.
Conversely if you had a good RP with a Harvester tell us about that, or if you had a good fight say so.
If you need to be pointed to threads with back story ask here they are broken among about three or four threads as our exsistance involves other groups and its expanding.
Thank you for reading this and I look forward to improveing mine and my friends contributions to Discovery.
I had fun with harvester 11 (I think?) as Underbridge recently, seems well done. I'm really enjoying the way they differentiate between groups, and then humans, the divided ones, switch it around, and argue against harvesting of a group other than themselves. Perhaps some information gathering could be done? Sort of them coming and stating a group of facts like: RM units remove hessian units, and hessian units bother transport units, yet these groups do not accept this unit while it does the same....
Furthermore, perhaps a less sophisticated sort of categorization mechanisim? Use ship designs instead of IFF, so that anything in a transport is a transport unit, and things in odins or thors are hessian units? I think a type of learning program displayed would be nice, or at least a display of a program collecting data. Questions, in very computer formats, really.
I find it difficult as well to keep up at times, I have seen the begining groups of Harvesters when we ran into them WERE limited in ability to communicate. There are now up to like 145 or more of the types of units being reported. And more everyday. Now I've had my run ins with the buggers, both in good form and once I was quite miffed. But after thought and well we all know hindsight is what it is, so I had to forget and move on. Next time I see one on screens, NO MATTER WHAT I am doing, if its my Zoner chars I will break off and go blow that bag of bolts to scrap metal. If its in a non-Zoner and not an Outcast, I will likely put distance between us, but otherwise ignore it. They seem only to be interested in Zoners and Outcasts and some few allies of the two. This makes for good RP, I applaude that, not only the idea, but the fact that they do so, even to the extent of taking fire without return fire till they have designated that they are not hostile, and further acts will be returned. They rarely run, making for honest Machine workings being believable, no fear, so no reason to run. They always make contact in chat before engagement, most times across the whole system, then they hunt.
As for trying to learn about this group, well its quite simple, read the posts in the groups that ARE investigating and get in touch with groups and ASK for info, Goddess forbid we actually RP our reading of the forums right? I am a TAZ pilot, also a [V] pilot, and I say we are prolly the BEST informed on them and well plainly we don't know much. You want more, come ask for it.
don t know much. as a zoner, i haven t encountered a harveter yet ( except for the o-49 event ). they appeared in delta a few times now. - but either i was busy on another char, or Jinx was simply elsewhere.
as for the "alpha code" and the transmissions. - it sounds well done. but its not the way i play the game. i am more for the very solid RP. i get down to what informations i get from the game itself and won t attempt to make up much then. ( so i d feel funny if i would RP to hand over an imaginary code to an imaginary foe for an imaginary cause - but thats just me, - i lack something there for a proper RP )
encounters with harvesters have been reported to be positive - and i agreed that i do like it - if the RP fits. ( and if its not lost in favour for pvp when time goes by )
so far, its an event / group of people, but not really a faction. - i am not sure if it could make an actual faction, cause it affects some of the fundamental thoughts of other factions. ( like the pure neutrality of the zoners )
right now, the harvester thing is event based, - and i wonder how it will proceed/continue. if they are "pacified" in a way.... will they keep existing? can they be pacified? ( a bit like - the thought: "what would the nomads be, if we had a truce between mankind and the nomads" - they d become boring and useless then )
so - all in all, its positive, allthough i m not really playing a vital part in it. - so i d say, keep going - and develope your storyline.
I have encountered an entire group on my Kishiro Affiliated trader, all the same ships, id's, reps.. Very Nice:)
I also encounted a lone one during my patrols of Kusari space in my KNF ship, quite a pleasent and fun roleplay indeed.. I think it was harvester 7 or something. Amazingly strong and relentless when they have to be. It also logged me as a hostile BIO unit... hahah probably because I asked it to surrender the lawful pilots or as their known as BIOMASS.
I quite enjoy the harvesters:)Keep up the good roleplay!
My encounters have all been good thus far. Though the last encounter (lastnight) I didn't get a chance to RP well, since I had to run from the Navy and the harvester (my rep with Republican went red when I tried to get the unioners neutral, so I need to fix it asap)
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
Your shields on your Talarcas are too much for my Thor. Alas, I was forced to retreat from Harvester_11 on Saturday, and you got my wingmate to boot... :(
Anyway, you guys provide some fun roleplay, especially since one of you *finally* started responding to the "G'evening toaster." with stuff like "This unit is not a toaster!". Hooray for interaction.
