In my somewhat limited experience there are a handful or less of Heavy Fighters that are truly competitive, and with class 7 gun balance they do dish out a lot of damage and all, but they are terribly weak - they die to nukes.
So in order to give Heavy Fighters a small perk and the ability to better fill the gap between Light and Very Heavy fighters, how about upping HF cruise speed to 400?
it would be a cool ship to fly as a merc or hunter, 25 m/s cruise advantage over your target, with clear drawbacks when it comes to actual combat to even it out

I have considered this as an Idea personally, giving each class of Snub a slight cruise difference thus giving them all a unique benefit as well as the ability to run down other classes. So in short:
Hmm I thought so.
It would be a shame to remove the benefit of Freighters by adding this to HF's.
One way to do this would be to increase the speed of Freighters again, therefor having to increase the speed of LFs again.
Another could be to change the advantage of HFs to make them more fighter killers as opposed to just faster.
If they had 25 m/s speed advantage over VHF's, they would be fighter killers.
I don't see why HF's and Freighters can't be the same speed. It makes no sense that large, heavy, civilian freighters are faster than smaller, sleeker combat ships anyway. Besides freighters already have turret steer and can be a major pain in the backside if flown right.
Freighters should lose their cruise speed advantage over snubcrafts. If they are used as trade ship, they are hardly possible to intercept unless using LF, thus completely unbalanced in this regard. If they are used as combat craft, then small gunboat should be indeed slower than snubcrafts.
