I have been wondering about if console message "cargo bay is full" or "no more space in cargo bay" wouldn't be a good idea, because some people tend to play silenced game or blasting out music while playing. What do you think? It would be better and more efficient than checking cargo all the time.

As for muting the music: you can always leave speach turned on..
I play with my speakers muted, because I'm playing at night usually. The other problem is when I mine and I listed to the music - the warning cannot be heard.

on vista and later you get a volume mixer, so your config can be something like this:
mixer: freelancer high, music medium-high
freelancer settings: effects low-medium, dialog high
speaker/hp settings: as high as you need in order to hear everything
i still agree that this is a pain though, and would rather see a console message than have bossy boots tell me over the top of my music

This has my vote. I don't play any games with sound. Too many kids, and my wife hates the noise. And I need to hear what is going on in case one of the kids lights the house on fire or tries eating one of the dogs.
Don't ask, I'm married. If you are too, you understand.
