I do not care about the tech exchange itself but I'm concerned about the reason written by Tabris.
SCRA as offical faction has not the power to make any influence in the Corsair/Red Hessian war in Omega 5 or elsewhere.
In fact they are isolated and outnumbered by roleplay means.
In the past offical Corsair factions build three stations, defended and supported them.
How do SCRA get any supplies (to build additional vessels) beside some TAZ/indie traders which would need some sort of roleplay at least on the forums.
Not sure what the problem is, there has been a bit of roleplay between TAZ/SCRA for tech permissions. Also SCRA is not a big player but that doesn't mean it won't try to keep corsairs from getting closer to their homeland.
I read the decree, I don't really see a problem with it. The part about SCRA fighting off corsairs in omega-49/5 are not unique to that decree and the only reason it is mentioned is to give the reason they aren't giving cruisers to TAZ. Not sure if I am just misunderstanding your concern about it or what. You might want to be a bit less hostile to perfectly legitimate replies to your post.
As one of the conductors of the RP, i fail to see the problem you have?
A lot of the Coalition's supplies come from their own internal stuff. Apart from that, they get stuff from their allies and the occasional trader that wants to do business with them. They aren't "isolated" as you put it.
@Mimir again, i fail to see the problem. The Coalition are realists, not idealists. Plus we share antagonists in the Order and Gallia (plus some more personal RP regarding the Sairs.). Having good relations with someone else who shares the same opponents is common sense.
Haha sorry, I'm not hostile I'm just working so I write it brief.
My question is, what is the raison d'être for a faction, fuelled by ideology to the point where it forced an alliance of unwilling to depart ancient Sol and STILL keeping animosity alive nearly a millenium later, when it operates based on the same logics as other ideologies (pragmatist/realist approach)?
In the offset, marxism and the ideologies derived therefrom is about the liberation of the oppressed. Historically that has pitted the ideology against monarchies, free market-based (liberal) ideologies and religion. Those three were mentioned specifically by Marx himself, and their inherent conflict with marxism explained in great detail.
In Discovery, we see SCRA siding with monarchist Bretonia and religious TAZ, against (among others) Corsairs, who are perhaps the group that is marginalized the most from Sirius free market economy and could very easily seen as being oppressed by external forces. I am just asking, when our SCRA operates on terms in direct opposition to their very own ideolgy, what is their purpose? What do they represent? To angle it sharply: Why are they in the mod?
Just gonna be brief as I gotta sleep (I got 5-Pin bowling later on in the day).
SCRA isn't Marxist, it's at best massively modified Maoism with a Discovery twist. The nation itself takes advantage of opportunities due to the less manpower and equipment it has in comparison to say the House of Liberty, thus it needs to make alliances with those it normally wouldn't accept in order to survive and expand it's influence.
As for Bretonia, that's LONG gone, nowadays it's as hostile to Bretland as it is to Gallia. And in the past Coalition History the Corsairs (who first sheltered the initial members of the resurgent Coalition before they fully regrouped in Omega-52) betrayed the SCRA and forced them out of Corsair space, so there's absolutely no love between the two organizations.
As to your final comments, the Coalition's ideals are ever changing and shifting, their purpose is in the end conquest and control over Sirius (an unlikely goal but the Coalitioners are patient folks and are willing to chip away at it piecemeal), they represent frankly a 'shadow' of the past come back to haunt the present and the Coalition is in the mod because our founders (Bless their souls) put in alot of time, effort and roleplay into making it into a reality.
Anyways sleepytime for Tabby. He needs his energy to get over his average and not be laughed at by his Best Friend for getting a gutterball. X_X
