Greetings
AP Manufacturing is in need of some AI software for Maintenance Units and Security Units. Ageira Technologies is known to be highly skilled in this field, so we're hoping you may be able to produce software of high quality for us.
I'm glad you contacted us. Our software developers are the best out there and always meet requirements of the customer. Could you provide us more informations regarding your request? Particularly, what type of maintenance/security units are we talking about here?
Best regards,
Daniel Brock,
Director of Research and Development Department,

Greetings Mr. Brock
The units in question are split into two types. One type is to be used for maintenance of ship vessels, particularly that of a Liner class vessel. The other type is to be used as security for such vessels against unwanted parties and for the protection of the crew and passengers.
Most maintenance drones currently available on Liberty market are of Ageira design but mass produced by Deep Space Engineering. These drones are by default linked with central maintenance interface of the ship for coordination of tasks. In the event of an emergency situation when communication with central interface is unavailable or is destroyed an individual AI kicks in. After that each drone, based on available information, tries to repair the most dangerous damage. All Deep Space Engineering sold drones come with a one year free firmware upgrade license. So you can either purchase new drones or we can adjust the software to work with the ones you currently posses - which may prove to be cost-ineffective due to incompatibility of the hardware.
As for sentry drones this is strictly military level technology with multiple restrictions in place. For instance, all AI-controlled drones may not be armed with lethal weapons while on board moored ships, bases or planet surfaces in Liberty Space. I do not think it will be a problem for a vessel operating mainly in Omicrons and other Edge Worlds. The Core bears a status of legitimate military contractor so there will be no problem with securing a contract from the legal point of view. The software and the security drones themselves are one package though and are not sold separately for both legal and security reasons. Most parts of the system is produced on Detroit Munitions in New York and then assembled on Hamilton Station in Ontario. We may either ship you a required amount to a designated place or you may pick them up from Ontario.
As for the price of our services, we do hope to negotiate a purchase of several Manta class very heavy fighters with a full set of your weaponry to use in our security wings. Please advise on possible terms of bidirectional contract.

Greetings Mr. Hart
We'll go for the option whereby you can adjust the software for the maintenance drones we currently posses. We do understand that it may be less cost-effective, however that is the decision the board wishes to make in this venture. If we need to send a drone to you for you to look at, that can be arranged.
Is there no way we can simply have the software for the security drones, not even if we have units that may be capable of housing the software?
Imagine following worst case scenario. We send you a copy of a sentry drone software which you install on a number of your drones. At least one of them is lost in an incident prearranged by a capable terrorist group like Lane Hackers. Stolen hardware does not have Ageira Technologies attested security safeguards responsible for erasing data and detonating micro-explosives on detection of a tampering attempt - like a typical batch of trade lane parts. As a result Ageira Technologies software is sold back on black market to every potential buyer including other dangerous terrorist groups or worse - the competition. Imagine a competition sponsored terrorist attack in which a hypothetical security vulnerability is used to infect our sentry drones in order for them to, let's say, attack innocent civilians. I cannot even assess magnitude of potential damage to both our credibility and income.
Naturally, possibility of such scenario is close to none. It is so because we do not take security issues lightly, and that includes making exceptions to our centuries long policies. It is also why you have come to us and not our competition.

Sorry for not responding to your transmission sooner. APM suddenly had a large amount of orders and thus this transmission was lost underneath the paperwork.
Back onto the topic at hand...
Very well then. We understand the risks and implications of trying to force your software on our own drones. For the sake of safety, we will avoid pursuing that and instead would rather purchase security drones that come with software from you directly.
In regards to the maintenance drones, we can bring several to Liberty for Ageira to have a look at so that they can produce compatible software. Is that possible?
I am terribly sorry for the delay, but as you probably heard, we are rather busy these days. Hamilton Station has been notified about your planned arrival. Please advise on the the possibility of tying agreement I have mentioned earlier.
