One of my suggestions again. Straight away gonna tell that this is not gonna be an agressive huge massive zoner bulk with large military and stuff. It will have some sort of colony deffense force, but it will consist of maximum two Zoner Cruisers and smaller ships count of which gonna be dependant entirely on players. And the group will be always on a deffensive.
The group will be based around ONE colony ship, aka Neph. I would not like to include the Freeport to this, as the stationary place makes no sense when you base a group around moving thing. Also there is possibility for one carrier to be present in the faction for RP purposes, if there will be any need.
But here I face a little problem. The idea, lore, RP behind group can be amazing, but how exactly to support it in the game? If for example this was a group of Zoners that look for a planet to inhabitate for example, what kinds of things can be done in game for this? I was thinking about sort of mini events, but the only thought for an actual event that I had so far would be fuel runs. Basically gathering two whales, some escort ships and going to GMG to RP the deal, dealing with all the unexpected events that happen along the way.
But that's it. I am thinking hard what other kinds of mini events would such group do, but I strugle at the moment. And that's where I need you lot to share with some of your suggestions.
Edit: Also, I might be copying something from other groups, but I don't know them. I know about Solar Runners, but I would like this group to stick to one region, not fly around whole sirius. I also might be taking something from Phoenix group, but from what I've seen of them in space, back when they were playing... I can't really say that I do.
Edit #2: Add me on skype whoever is interested in developing such idea. My skype is mc_temka
I usually dislike Zoner group ideas since I equate zoners to loners but I like this one.
I like the idea I would instantly join and play with that. I would say events that can be made around that are pretty simple some factions feel threatened by the presence of such a large force of ships and defend themselves. (Pretty much all small factions outside the core systems) Or the zoner colony moves into unknown territory and encounters Nomads.
I would definitely not stay in one region take all the sigmas, omegas and omicrons and let them look all over this way the RP can stay alive longer. I mean it will end at somepoint I think. If they wont find a planet they would disband or something.
Nomad encounters could be VERY dangerous, so it would be better to avoid them, at least inRP. Remember - Nomads are species which are mentioned to kill everything at sight, or maybe infest them at least. We should focus on smaller goals, at least at start.
You can earn inRP money in game, with such a mentioned convoy. One Whale + some smaller ships around to load it etc. could be an interesting idea, both for RP and trading purposes. If this group were to storage some cargo, it would need something like a stationary cargo bay- maybe an POB near this mentioned planet? Those Zoners could both earn money in game and maybe haul some stuff on demand? Not a large trading company, more likely as a small group of people with the same interests and goals to achieve?
So, there's a question: Which planet & which system? I personally prefer some ice planets
Mh maybe I got away from the original idea a bit but I feel like a convoy would not stay stationary when trying to find a planet but fly around. I agree that inRP nomad encouters would be dangerous but lets be real where would a group of zoners look for a planet... Its in places that are not highly populated an probably dangerous.
I like the idea of trading but i dont know if a tightly knit group would split up for trading purposes.

A couple of issues you'll likely have to consider:
If you want to be truly mobile, i.e. based around an actual in-game Neph, the group will likely be a cult of personality type deal that stagnates whenever the leader isn't around and flying the Neph with everyone else.
Transient groups also run into issues with practical activity. The Zoner ID forces them to be extremely passive, so their main in-game source of activity will generally be trading. If you're not going to be based out of an actual station, it makes it harder to set up routes that have an actual appreciable impact on your roleplay.
I'd also have thought Zoners looking for a planet would be slightly redundant, seeing as Gran Canaria exists, is currently administered by Zoners, has no appreciable House influence and has masses of land where settlers could go live, months from the nearest settlement. Gran Canaria would be like the Zoner colonist's Mecca.
In any case, one long term option would be to set up a PoB in some sufficiently isolated area, then put in a player request to have the model changed to a Neph. Then your colony ship would actually be a semi-permanent base of operations you could stage from and trade with.

I would like to add one point to this. if, you really want something mobile, you can use a shared neph. when one person is on the neph, the others can take their ospreys out to cover the person. Resembling a fleet, and at the same time......not a fleet
