I don't want to see it go, I love the ship (I got 3, one of them is for NPCs and Exploring properly equipped... well, the other two... until I don't see CUFF straighten out... bad chance of putting back the Cr shields)

Lower the hull capacity of the Huegenot.
So when you do hit, it hurts more. But keep the cruiser shield on.
Also maybe a little handling decrease. Only very slight.

... and it becomes like the Battlestar Adv. - a huge unusable brick that can't fly decently! No way, sorry Jamez, too radical!
The handling is OK, it should be able to navigate the rock fields in the Omicrons and Omegas with ease as it is a PIRATE CRUISER and only PIRATE CAPSHIP except the Osiris that is only sold by te Order. And being made as such - an answer from the Outcasts to the Corsairs having Osirises (spelling?!), and being made FOR use in the border worlds, it should keep the handling.

14 turrets, no other cruiser has this
Huge energy pool (guns rarely use up the energy)
Highly manueverable
small hit box thus, hard to hit
looks cool!
Possible solution:
Make the Huegenot a battleship
In crease it's mass and hit box size
Now the ship turns like a battleship, has the same number of turrets as a
battleship and, a similar sized hit box.
It seems like this would take the least amount of modifying.

The hitbox is small, I agree, but if you know where to aim, not such a problem.
Make it a Battleship... that won't work because of other implications (ie. has to be bigger, lower maneuveability...)

Not quite, the NPCs don't dodge. :) Try to hit one in the front 1/3 it'll go through it.

One issue that people seem to have missed is the reason people are putting fighter turrets on the Huegenot.
It has NO turrets to start with, at all. Every other capship in the game comes with turrets (Save the BStars, and your options on those have little limmitations), but not the Huegenot. I don't even know if there ARE turrets for the Huegenot out there.
So, my list of fixes would be this;
-Cut down the number of turret slots by two or four
-Enlarge the hit-boxes
-Make a turret specificly designed for the Huegenot
-Have the freighter shields reduced, so transport ships would have a maximum of class 7, gunboats class 8, cruisers class 9, battleships class 10. Make the transport, gunboat, cruiser, and battleship shields fit in these accordingly.
This is the real true story of rock and roll; it was not about anything more then, how to live your life, as a gangster, in sartorial splendor, and turning the world into a place where normality would never return again...- Malcolm McLaren
I used to have a huegenot, when I was really into freelancer, she was a monster, the huggy is in a class of it's own, it is basically a cruiser, unconstrained by the limits of military budgets, and so, it can match the power of any battleship, much cheaper, much more diversly, and it can manouvere like a light cruiser if used correctly. My huegenot was my baby, and I'll say it now, although flawed it was one of the best, I'm sure virus remembers fighting the Pukov in his rheinland cruiser, stripped it of shield in seconds, finished his hull in almost the same time. The fact is, the huegenot is a beast to be reckoned with, I will also say, that the hit boxes are tiny, about 1/5 parts of the ship are invulnerable, I even found a part in the back where my fighter could fly through it! The huggies are not only a brand of nappies but also a formidable ship type. They do need to be bunked up in classification if they are still as powerful as when I played, they need to be either cruisers the same price as battleships, or battleships, the handling needs to toned down, and the damage dealt needs to be lowered. Sorry if I'm out of date, havent played in a long time.
Oh yeah, and burn the heretic! I'll do my inquisition thing, and tie you to that stake, I love huggies  Now seriously, a good point made, but it's too complicated an argument, and one we've had before (I think?)

yeah, that seems to be the problem we forgot to mention

So to recap: the main, or only, problems are the power supply and the hit-box.

Power supply is not a problem if you mount Huegenot turrets or any capship weapons. If you mount fighter turrets... if you balance it right, you can fire constantly and have two mortars firing as fast as they can. If you don't put fighter turrets on it... it's solved.
The hitbox remains and the shields thing.
