even when i was stil in the order,people were complaining about "reasons" not to log and fight people cause those said people were ...fill in the blank
i had to literally drag them to log in and actually do something.Ofcourse after a couple of interactions ingame their chat turned into a crybaby fest cause they were ganked by sumhumans....

We don't have a huge faction. We don't have a lot of people able to log. We have lives (I'm usually asleep when everything happens too). And finally - grow a pair and make fun for "all of us."

You mean so KNF/KSP/AOI/Core/Aux/Kitchen Sink can lolpwn us then go back to fighting?

What is the point of logging if we'll just die? How is that fun if we end up killed, then Noms fly in once we've been slaughtered? It's happened before.

What is the goddamn point of logging if we get slaughtered right off the bat, then the Nomads come out? If people are going to say we aren't there than fine. We aren't.

We aren't going to "give you fun" by being just another blue. Sorry, you don't like it? Tough. We aren't here for your sake, nor are you here for ours.

God, it's not like there's also a massive OORP hatred for SOMEONE in the Order that makes people not join, thus we end up with barely any recruits. It's not like I have to deal with a small faction and with more than enough enemies despite my supreme efforts . Now I have BD| and I still have a small faction who usually dies right off the bat, and being cannon fodder for your FUN isn't FUN for US.

Our fun matters to, and ending up utterly slaughtered for someone else's fun...isn't fun.

Yes. Cappy mentality. Terrible way to play, yes. But it sort of suckswhen we can't even shoot Nomads without a goddamn invincible marduk appearing. Which is why even indies have stopped - because of, no offense, alley's invinciduk. Was it sort of justified? Yes. Whatever. What's done is done.

Tl;Dr

OORP hate towards someone keeps faction small.
People have other responsibilities/factions.
RL.
Lack of motivation to log into gankfests (which is partly our fault, not gonna lie).
Low amount of people.

Hunter, you have the coolest faction with the best ID and the most fun lore of any faction in discovery, and my guys more active than you. A lot of the dislike of the Order, I'm loathe to admit it, is due to very, very play-to-win actions the Order has done in the past. It's not specific actions, it's a general trend which has been pretty much consistent for the last four real-world years. From Order blowing up official AI on undock because they transited through Omicron Minor to impositions on Zoners, to powergamed lore and assets, to the whole thing with Auxesia and RP deletions, the Order degraded a long, long way from the Toledo era OFL. Order's RP is great, the story is good, it's fun to be in if you are Order. It just has a reputation for being absolute balls to interact with. I don't remember a single positive moment wherin I've run into an Order OFL for real-world years. The problem? Emotion. People get really, really emotional around Discovery's protagonist faction.

Alright, fair enough, good. Order have consistently sucked. That's all in the past and doesn't change who you are now.


It can be turned around with some very basic changes of approach. More communication with other faction leaders, more liason. If you have a conflict of intrest InRp, don't let it sour Oorp friendships. Work out conflicts with your adversaries, PM people about balance, and, most importantly, bring more fighters. If you get lol-capped, just thrust away. It doesn't matter if you die, what matters is if you had fun.

It's going to be a long road, because bias is a thing and you're currently suffering the impact of it, but you can change how people see you. I've done it. It can be done, and I have faith in your ability to figure it out. You're a good leader and a good player, Hunter, and I like your RP stories. Keep at it.

I know I am 2iC of one of the coolest factions, hands down. It's a massive responsibility to manage both this faction and it's role as "ULTIMATE PROTAGONIST FACTION" because Vanilla. Hell, I'm only here at Disco because I finished Vanilla and Google The Order and...lo and behold...I'm here. But I've only bee Order| since maybe 2011-2012. The play to win mentality came around when ganking became so prevalent, and I tried for years to keep balance and avoid ridiculous situations. Yeah I too have gotten hotblooded and charged in FOR THE ORDER before, and recently too. I can't remember if I was there for the AI Undock in Minor, Zoner impositions - the TAZ issue was fixed, I personally talked and ending the problems INRP - and I'm not even sure what lore is powergamed. The assets, I'm assuming, is Taba/Carthage. I had written a lot of information explaining how they came to be but Ace deleted it and replaced it with the boring infocards. I need to go back and better explain how all our current assets came to be.

I'm not sure, again, which lore - if it's Phoenicia, that was past devs. We honestly had zero role in that. It was like that either Braga in '09, now just has a namechange.

Now, Auxesia. Id say don't get me started but screw it. I'm tired of it.

We don't elected infopages. On the Order| account. Infopages. Two. Yes Shizune purged his stuff a bit too zealously, but none of it was even replied to (mostly, but even BD| gave up on Aux). Further, I could go into how Aux flying caps into our home a donteletedireay or two after they nuked an Osiris for "being obnoxious" is a terrible idea, borderline idiotic, but apparently, I should let bygones be bygones yet get war declared on me by the actions of an indie.

I should both not care if an indie is assaulted by ya'll, but I should be held accountable when an indie assaults ya'll. But the past is the past.


As for the future - I am. I've talked with Jansen about Wild/Order forum rp, I've been talking with Jack about the Nomad scanners he needs for IMG, I've done RP with [LN] and plan to reach out again to further get stuff done.

But yes. Bias. I'm uphill fighting bias and oorp hatred at every turn, not for me but for others. I've wanted to get better, I want the faction better but when I log and get hunted because ORDER EVIL. Try asking anyone how to end stupid silly feuds I get left with.

The problem is not can I do it, Tanith. But can I do it in time.

I'm sure I can turn it around. But no one wants to give me a chance to, it feels like. Even when my trigger finger only gets itchy when I see enemies in Mu >.>

Also there's like only 5 caps in the Order. Most of those are shared. We use a lot more fighters. It just seems like that because of all the indies, and indie groups

Due to some technical incompatibilities, the third stage of this event might need to be set aside for next week.
